Gift

Yusho was in his and Yoko's room looking for a book to read when his wife walked in. "You know, we've been living in this house for over fifteen years," she said. "I still remember when you had it built for us to live in together as an engagement gift to me."

"Yeah, I feel bad that we have to move, but there's just not enough space for all of the boys," Yusho sighed. Yoko smiled, "It's alright, Yusho. We could definitely keep this house and rent it out. This is a very nice neighborhood, I'm sure renters would be lining up around the block to live here! We could also turn it into an Airbnb. Miami City is a popular tourist site, people come from all over the world to watch duels. Don't worry, I'm definitely not going to give up your gift."

Yusho relaxed, clearly happy that Yoko planned to keep the house. He'd had it built for her specifically, with her architectural tastes in mind, and her name was on the deed. It meant a lot to him that she had no intention of selling it.

"That's not what I wanted to talk to you about, though," Yoko said. "You remember the gift you made for Yuya when he was born right?"

Yusho nodded. "Yeah, I remember. You told me to wait until he was actually born, in case he didn't make it since your pregnancy was a high-risk one. And then you tried to convince me to wait until he was an adult, but I wanted to make sure it was available just in case."

"Yes, yes you did," Yoko agreed. "He's fourteen now, though. I think he's old enough to know the truth."

Yusho opened his mouth, then closed it. "Right... fourteen... God I've missed so much of his life..."

Yoko nodded. "Yes, but you're back, and there's still time before he becomes an adult. You've got time to spend with him."

Yusho was quiet for a long moment. Then Yoko continued. "I think we should tell Yuya about the gift, and have him decide if he wants it now or when he's twenty as originally planned. He's old enough to make that choice."

"Agreed," Yusho said.
