The rain pours down in steady sheets, the patter muffled against the dense cover of bushes where you and your squad crouch. You pull your cloak tighter over your head, shielding yourself from the downpour as you let out a measured, misty breath. Despite the tension, you’re quietly grateful for the weather, for the way it adds a sense of realism to this staged encounter. Levi’s gaze remains fixed on the distant path, unblinking, watching for Reeves. Beside you, Hange fidgets, her eager eyes betraying her impatience even as she tries to keep quiet.

Finally, a wagon crests the hill, followed by a soldier on horseback. The dull, rhythmic clopping of hooves carries through the rain-soaked air. Just as the wagon rounds the sharpest bend, the wheel slips off the muddy edge, tipping it at a dangerous angle. With a crunch, the wagon plummets down the cliff, taking its passengers with it. Their screams tear through the rain, echoing alongside the panicked whine of horses as they struggle against their harnesses. Below, a loud crash erupts as wood and metal splinter, disappearing into the shadows.

Reeves shouts over the chaos, “Damn it! You rushed the horses! I knew this was a bad idea!” He grumbles, inspecting the wreckage from above with an air of frustration. One of the remaining soldiers on horseback, eyes wide with panic, stammers something about getting help. Without waiting for a response, he turns and races away, the sound of his galloping fading into the distance.

Only when the area falls silent does Reeves turn to you, raising his hand in a signal. Levi gestures, and in a swift motion, you and your squad engage your ODM gear, descending down to the wreckage. You find two men slumped inside the shattered remains of the wagon, one with blood trailing down their temple. You press your fingers to both of their necks, feeling the faint pulse beneath their skin.

“They're still alive,” you report softly, and Levi nods with approval. Hange quickly slings the unconscious man over her shoulder while Levi does the same with the other man with practiced ease, and the squad ascends back up the cliff to the edge.

With your group gathered, you make your way back to a deep basement in Trost, an eerie silence settling as you enter the room. The stone walls seem to absorb the dim light from the single lantern flickering on the table. You help secure the man in a chair, strapping his wrists down tightly. Hange brings in a squeaky cart filled with tools—pliers, nails, hammers, and other sharp instruments carefully arranged. She glances at you, an unsettling grin on her face.

Levi walks in wearing a bloodied apron. He looks at you, seeing the uneasiness in your stance. "You don't have to be here you know... This will get messy..."

You think to yourself... No way this can be worse than fighting titans. People literally get ripped to shreds in front of you. It's not like you can't handle this... Right?

"I'll be fine." You say with a reassuring nod. His brows furrow but doesn't protest and instead goes over to the cart to inspect the tools.

The man finally begins to stir, his eyelids fluttering before they snap open, confusion clouding his expression as he takes in the sight of the tools laid out before him and everyone in the room.

“W-What… what the hell is this?” he mutters, pulling against the restraints.

Hange’s grin only widens as she selects a pair of pliers, turning them over in her hand as though inspecting them for imperfections. She strolls over to him, her voice light as she says, “Ah, Sannes! You're finally awake. We were just getting started.”

The man’s eyes widen as he looks between her and Levi, his panic clear. “You can’t do this! I’m with the Interior Police! You have no right!”

Levi steps forward, his face cold and impassive. “I don’t care who you are,” he says, his voice quiet yet deadly. “And neither do they.” He gestures towards you and Hange.
