The smoke clears, revealing the battlefield in stark, unforgiving detail. You scan the chaos below, heart pounding in your chest. There—Reiner stands amid the disintegrating remains of the Beast Titan, its massive frame collapsing into nothing more than an empty husk.
Armin's voice cuts through the tense silence.
"Zeke's hiding," he mutters, eyes wide with realization. "He's using the Warhammer Titan's power to conceal his location."
Levi grunts, gripping his blades tighter. "Of course that coward's hiding. Should've figured he'd pull some shit like this."
Jean, breathless and frantic, gestures to the mess of bone structures surrounding Eren's monstrous form. "Then what? We're supposed to sift through this damn graveyard for one tiny body?! That's impossible! Armin, I'm sorry, but it's time—"
Armin's fist slams into his side, trembling with barely restrained emotion.
"I know!" he snaps, voice breaking. "I know, Jean..."
For a moment, the weight of defeat lingers in the air, suffocating and heavy. Then Armin straightens, jaw set, eyes burning with resolve.
"In one minute, I'm transforming. I'll blast this entire skeleton apart. Use the Cart and Winged Titan to get clear. Eren knows we're planning this—I'm sure of it. This won't kill him. But if we do enough damage, we might find Zeke and Eren's bodies."
No hesitation. No more time to second-guess.
Jean claps Armin on the shoulder, voice tight but steady. "Good luck. Don't hold back. If something happens, shift. No questions."
Connie nods, expression grim. "Yeah... See you on the other side."
Levi zips through the air, grappling onto your shoulder. He settles in, balancing with practiced ease as you glide through the sky.
"Looks like it's time to go," he mutters, voice low and calm despite the storm brewing below.
You glance at him, your massive titan eyes betraying the fear and sorrow flooding your chest. He sees it instantly—sees through the hardened mask you've always worn. His gaze softens.
"It's okay," Levi murmurs, stroking the side of your head. "We're trusting Armin on this one. We've made it this far. Don't break on me now."
You silently nod.
"Let's move," he orders, and you obey without hesitation, wings beating hard as you soar toward Pieck and the others.
But then—
"Armin!"
Mikasa's scream rips through the air.
Your heart stops.
You whip your head around just in time to see it—a monstrous titan unlike anything you've seen before. Animalistic, lanky, with the head of an okapi. Its long, sinewy tongue lashes out and wraps around Armin like a whip. He barely has time to react before it yanks him off his feet, snapping him into its mouth and sealing him inside before running away.
"Armin!" Jean shouts, horror etched across his face.
Everything freezes. The world seems to hold its breath. But as you gaze into the mist ahead of you... You see them.
Titans. Dozens of them. Not mindless, shambling giants—these are different. They move with purpose, with strategy. Each one unique, grotesquely defined, like echoes of nightmares dragged from the past.
"Shit..." Levi mutters, eyes narrowing.
They're connected to Eren by sinewy strands of flesh, like puppets on strings.
