As the gentle morning light streamed through the sheer curtains of my cozy pink bedroom, my mother lovingly combed through my wild, curly hair while softly humming a cheerful tune. The room was a delightful whimsy of childhood, filled with cuddly stuffies and intricate dolls, each with its own story.

I felt a flutter of anxiety in my stomach as I fidgeted with my hands, watching her deftly work her magic with the brush.

"Georgia, sweetheart, no slouching," she gently reminded me, her voice firm yet caring. At once, I straightened my back, my posture aligning with her expectations.

"Much better," she praised, tying my hair back with a vibrant pink bow that seemed to dance in the light. With her careful attention, she completed my transformation, stepping back to admire her handiwork.

She positioned me in front of the tall mirror, allowing me to take in the sight of myself in the delicate pink frilly dress, which flared out like a cloud around my waist. The bow at the back of my head accented the look beautifully, and I could see the pride in my mother's eyes as she beamed at me from behind.

"Now as we enter the gala with your father, you have to remember," she said, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear with a tender touch, "always stand straight, always wear a smile, always speak politely, and always strive for perfection."
