Geo gets Vi some distance from the warehouse and lays her on the floor. She winced in pain.
The cool night air bit against her skin, sending shivers through her body. She looked up at Geo, her breathing labored. "Thanks," she managed to say through gritted teeth.
Geo knelt beside her, taking a moment to catch her breath herself. The events of the night had left her exhausted but filled with adrenaline. She looked at Vi's bruised and battered body, concern etched into her face.
"Are you okay?" she asked, her voice tinged with worry.
Vi gave a weary chuckle, her lips curving into a pained smile. "Yeah, just a few scrapes and bruises," she replied, her voice hoarse. "I've had worse."
She attempted to sit up straight but a sharp pang in her side caused her to wince. She leaned back on her arms, her expression betraying her discomfort.
Geo gently pressed a hand against Vi's shoulder, urging her to stay down. "Don't push yourself," she said firmly, her eyes scanning Vi's injuries. "You're hurt."
Geo's eyes narrowed as Vi struggled to keep up her tough facade. She could tell that Vi was putting on a brave face, but the extent of her injuries was clear.
"You need to rest," she said gently but firmly. "At least until morning. You can't do anything in this state."
She shifted her position so that she was sitting cross-legged on the ground, positioning herself beside Vi. In a soft gesture, she placed her hand on top of Vi's where it rested on the cold pavement.
For a moment, Vi looked at Geo with a mixture of stubbornness and gratitude. She wanted to protest, to push herself to keep going, but the pain and exhaustion were starting to catch up to her.
"Fine," she muttered after a moment, her voice tinged with reluctance. "But just until morning Diamond."
Geo smiled slightly "Diamond? Really?"
Vi offered a weak grin, her eyes gleaming with a hint of playfulness. "You're like a diamond, aren't you? Hard on the outside, shining on the inside."
When Vi said those words, Geo couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle. "Is that a compliment from the fearsome Vi?" she teased lightly.
"Don't get used to it," Vi shot back, wincing as she shifted her position. "I don't go around complimenting just anyone."
"Oh, lucky me," Geo replied, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She then turned more serious and glanced at Vi's injuries. "I need to get you cleaned up before we can rest."
She stood up and scanned the surroundings, trying to find anything useful. Suddenly, she noticed a small building nearby. An idea popped into her head.
Vi watched as you stood up, her gaze following you as you looked around. When she saw the building, a flicker of realization dawned on her face.
"Are you planning what I think you're planning?" she asked, her voice hoarse.
Geo smirked, sensing her intentions had been guessed. "Depends," she said, stepping closer to Vi. "Are you going to cooperate?"
She reached out a hand to help Vi stand up as much as she could, gently pulling her arm over her shoulders for support.
"Do I have a choice?" Vi grumbled though a hint of a smile played at the corners of her mouth.
She leaned against Geo's support as she attempted to get to her feet, her body protesting against the movement. Each step sent stabs of pain through her, but she stubbornly refused to show it.
