My mother woke me up in the middle of the night. She told me we had to go somewhere and that she had a surprise. We got ready, and she helped me put on a cloak that covered the white hair on my head and the new tattoo that had appeared on the back of my hand.

We walked outside to a tram and entered it. I watched as Piltover's clean landscape transformed into Zaun's dirty one.

After the tram stopped, my mother led me through the streets of Zaun, careful to keep her head down.

I looked in awe around me. I had never been to Zaun before, my mother told me it was a place of criminals and rotten people.

She led me into an alleyway and told me to sit. I sat on a rough piece of cardboard. She promised me that she would be right back. She promised.

I sat on the piece of cardboard for hours. I watched the sunrise. I watched it set. I kept sitting there convinced my mother would return. For days I sat there, with no food, or water. I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer and passed out.

When I woke up, a tall lady was looking over me. I hurried to the wall in fear, but to my surprise, she gave me a piece of fruit. I grabbed it hungrily. The lady asked me where my parents were.

I shook my head tears in my eyes, because I knew my mother wasn't coming back.
