Diamond Within - Vi x OC

Chapter 7

Isha led the women to what looked like an abandoned warehouse in the caves. Isha looked through the torn door. Vi came up behind her and punched the door open. 

As the rest of them entered the dimly lit room, Geo looked around. The place was in shambles with a table and a bookshelf. There were cobwebs everywhere with fallen books and ripped tapestries.  

Isha lit a lamp with a match, lighting up the small room in a warm glow. Geo found multiple old gauntlets covered in webs. Jinx approached a rack with two coats: one with the letter V on the inside and the other with S. Geo watched Jinx smell the bigger jacket with the V.  Geo couldn't help the pang of sympathy she felt for her.

She heard the sound of air being released and looked to see Vi take off her gauntlets and pick up a piece of paper from a table. Both Geo and Jinx approached her to see what it was.

"What Is it?"  Jinx asked.

"A message from Vander." Vi glanced up at Geo before darting her eyes back to the paper. "To Silco." Vi turned around and walked away leaving the paper on the table.

Jinx pulled up a chair and sat down. She picked up the letter and started reading. Geo leaned on the table as she listened to the letter.

"Silco, I've looked everywhere but..." Jinx started.

Vi still stood where she was facing the wall. Geo got up and walked beside her holding the hand without the gauntlet. Vi looked at her a million thoughts racing through her mind.

"I told myself what I did to you was for the greater good, that you deserved it." Jinx continued. "But the dirt was on both our hands. Blisters and bedrock. V." She finished reading the letter.

Vi turned slightly to face Jinx's back, hand still gripping Geo's.

"If he found this," Jinx said. Vi let go of Geo's hand and started to place it on Jinx's shoulder, but hesitated. "Everything might have been different."

 Vi took her hand back and placed it back into the gauntlet. Jinx watched her and sighed. Geo then noticed how tired she looked. Geo played with the small bird necklace she always wore, the last thing she had from her father.

Vi paused as she looked at Jinx with the corner of her eye before walking away. Geo remained where she was at the wall. The little girl came up behind Jinx's chair and her face brightened. She pulled down Isha's hat as she got up from her seat. 

They started to leave the room. Geo glanced at the letter, left on the table, tons of questions racing through her mind. She felt a giant robotic hand on her shoulder. She turned to meet Vi's gaze.

"Come on Diamond. Let's go." Vi led her out of the room.

The four girls continued their journey through the caves when Isha suddenly stopped in her tracks. She slowly turned around. Geo looked confused. What was she? Then she heard it—pounding. The rest of the girls turned around as well. 

A light gleamed in the distance.

Vi grabbed Geo's arm. "We have to get out of here." She started to pull Geo away from the light.

Jinx just pointed to the light. "It's him. It's Vander."

"That's not Vander" Vi looked panicked.

"It is" Jinx reassured. "Somethings got him riled up." She placed a hand over Isha, who looked terrified, in protection.

Vi's grip on Geo's arm tightened. A giant monster that looked like a wolf started to come into Vi.

"No Vander no!" Jinx begged. "It's me."

The wolf didn't seem to listen as it came right for Geo. In a flash, Vi was in front of her and punched him in the stomach as his claws grazed her hair. Geo fell back in shock. Vi pushed him away, but he quickly regained his footing.

"He's going to kill us," Vi said as she quickly got up to stop him. 

"Don't hurt him." Jinx pleaded. 

Geo got up from the ground and immediately brought her gun out. Vi didn't even seem to hear Jinx, as she gave the wolf monster thing an uppercut, her gauntlets rearing. The wolf fought back by pushing Vi to a wall. He ran to her but stopped. 

Geo reloaded her gun as the monster turned around, a bullet in his back. Geo continued to shoot but the wolf didn't seem affected as it kept going toward her, but Vi punched him again sending him away from Geo. 

Light flashed as Vi and the wolf continued their attacks on each other. Geo plugged her ears as the monster screechs and Vi's screams filled the air. Geo tried to aim at the monster but they were moving too fast and the lights made it hard to find the two of them. Jinx covered Isha with her body as she yelled for Vi to stop. 

The wolf seemed to have had enough as he sent Vi flying into a wall. He charged at her ready to kill. 

"VI!" Geo screamed as she tried to shoot the monster to distract him, but her hands were shaking too much to focus.

The monster looked over at Geo and growled but much to Geo's surprise, Jinx shielded her with her body.  The wolf stopped and seemed to struggle with himself. Geo saw flashes of humanity in his eyes. Jinx was telling the truth. That was a human inside of there.

Vi spat blood out from her mouth and the struggle stopped, the monster taking full control again with the scent of blood.  Vi struggled to keep her fists up. 

"Vi it's him." Jinx pleaded with Vi again. "You have to believe me."

Vi looked at Jinx and then at Geo who stood behind her. Vi sighed. 

The wolf started to run towards Vi. Everything seemed to be in slow motion. Vi put her fists down not fighting. Geo screamed in terror reaching for Vi behind Jinx's body who held her back. The monster kept running at full speed as Vi continued to lower her fists. Geo tried to get out from under Jinx's body, trying to save her. 

The wolf reached Vi. 

"Vander!" Vi yelled. 

Geo shielded her eyes from the carnage but then everything went black. she stood there in silence until she felt Jinx's body leave hers. Jinx lit a match lighting the now dark cave. 

"Vi?" Geo yelled into the darkness. "Vi please!" 

Jinx held Isha's hand as she walked through the cave. Geo saw a faint green glow coming from a massive body. Geo ran towards it fearing the worst. She stopped as Jinx and Isha caught up to her. 

The massive wolf and Vi were hugging? 

Vi held her hand out to Jinx. "What are you waiting for? He's your dad too." 

Jinx started to cry as she ran to them joining the hug. Geo looked at the massive wolf, or Vander, his eyes no longer red but now one was yellow and the other blue. 

Isha ran to join the hug as well.

Geo felt like she was intruding in a very tender moment. She started to turn away but saw Vi looking right at her. "Get over here Diamond." 

Geo smiled as she joined them, Vi's hand wraping around her waist as they all stood together in the cave. A small and imperfect family.
