No sooner had you closed the door behind your aunt did your phone buzz with an incoming call. You picked it up, still tired from the chaos of babysitting, only to hear your aunt's frantic voice on the other end.

"[Your Name], I'm so sorry to do this to you, but I just got called in for an overnight shift," she said, sounding genuinely frazzled. "Is there any way you can keep Aki until tomorrow? I hate to ask, but I'm in a bind."

You froze, glancing at Rin, who had just grabbed his bag and was about to leave. "Uh... yeah, sure. It's fine," you said hesitantly, your voice trailing off.

"Thank you so much! You're a lifesaver. I'll pick him up first thing tomorrow morning, I promise," she said, hanging up before you could protest further.

You turned to Rin, who was staring at you with an expression that screamed don't involve me in this.

"So... Aki's staying the night," you said sheepishly.

"No," Rin said flatly, adjusting the strap of his bag. "That's your problem, not mine."

"Rin," you pleaded, stepping in front of the door to block him from leaving. "You can't just abandon me! I can't do this alone. Please?"

He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Why me?"

"Because Aki likes you. And because I'll owe you... again," you added, knowing full well that Rin loved holding favors over your head.

After a long moment, Rin dropped his bag back onto the couch and muttered something under his breath that sounded like I hate this.

Dinner Time Disasters

The rest of the evening was predictably chaotic. You attempted to cook dinner while Rin entertained Aki, though "entertain" was a strong word for what was actually happening.

Rin sat cross-legged on the living room floor, holding one of Aki's toys in his hand and half-heartedly waving it around while the baby crawled circles around him.

"Do you always have this much energy?" Rin muttered, watching Aki zoom past him like a tiny whirlwind.

"You should be flattered," you called from the kitchen. "He only does that with people he likes."

Rin shot you a glare, but you could see the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

Dinner was a simple affair—rice, grilled chicken, and steamed vegetables. You'd expected Aki to make a mess of his baby food, but to your surprise, he ate quietly while sitting in his high chair, occasionally glancing at Rin like he was the most fascinating person in the world.

"I think he's your biggest fan," you teased, nudging Rin with your elbow as you sat beside him at the table.

"Great," Rin deadpanned. "Just what I need."

Bedtime Battles

Getting Aki to sleep was an entirely different ordeal.

"Why is he still awake?" Rin asked, his voice tinged with exhaustion as Aki wriggled in your arms, wide-eyed and giggling.

"I don't know!" you said, bouncing the baby gently in an attempt to calm him. "I've tried rocking him, singing to him, everything!"

"Let me try," Rin said, holding out his arms.

You handed Aki over, curious to see how Rin would handle it. To your surprise, Rin cradled the baby with surprising gentleness, walking slowly around the room while murmuring softly under his breath.

"What are you saying to him?" you asked, amused.

"Just random stuff," Rin replied, keeping his voice low. "It doesn't matter what you say as long as your tone is calm."

You watched in awe as Aki's eyelids began to droop. Within minutes, the baby was fast asleep in Rin's arms.

"You're a wizard," you whispered, grinning as Rin carefully placed Aki in the crib you'd borrowed from your aunt.

"I'm just better at this than you," Rin said smugly, earning a playful shove from you.

A Night In

By the time Aki was asleep, it was already past 11 PM. You plopped down on the couch, exhausted, and glanced over at Rin, who was sitting at the other end of the couch, scrolling through his phone.

"You're not leaving, are you?" you asked, half-joking.

"No," Rin said without looking up. "If he wakes up in the middle of the night, you'll need help."

You smiled, touched by his unexpected thoughtfulness. "Thanks, Rin."

"Don't mention it," he muttered, his ears turning pink.

The two of you sat in comfortable silence for a while, the faint sound of Aki's soft breathing coming from the other room. It felt oddly domestic, sitting there with Rin in the quiet of your apartment.

"This is weird," Rin said suddenly, breaking the silence.

"What is?"

"This. Us. Babysitting together," he said, glancing at you. "It feels... normal."

You tilted your head, studying him. "Is that a bad thing?"

Rin hesitated before shaking his head. "No. Just... different."

You smiled, leaning back against the couch. "I don't mind it. It's kind of nice, having you here."

Rin looked away, but you caught the faintest hint of a smile on his face.

A Day Out with Aki

The next morning, Aki woke up bright and early, his energy levels somehow even higher than the day before. After a quick breakfast, you decided to take him out for a walk to burn off some of that energy.

Rin reluctantly agreed to come along, though he insisted on wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses to avoid being recognized.

The three of you ended up at a nearby park, where Aki crawled around on the grass while you and Rin sat on a bench, keeping a watchful eye on him.

At one point, an older woman passing by stopped to coo at Aki. "What a beautiful baby," she said, smiling at the two of you. "You two make such a lovely family."

Both you and Rin froze, exchanging a wide-eyed glance before stammering out denials.

"Oh, we're not—he's not—"

"It's not like that," Rin said quickly, his ears turning bright red.

The woman chuckled knowingly. "Sure, sure. You two have a good day now."

As she walked away, you burst out laughing. "Well, that was awkward."

"Why does everyone think we're married?" Rin muttered, burying his face in his hands.

"Maybe because we look good together," you said teasingly, earning a glare from Rin.

The rest of the day was filled with similar incidents. Every time someone saw you with Aki, they assumed you and Rin were a couple, much to Rin's embarrassment. By the time your aunt finally came to pick Aki up, Rin looked ready to collapse.

"Thanks again, [Your Name]! And thank you, Rin," your aunt said, smiling warmly at him. "You were such a big help."

Rin mumbled something noncommittal, clearly eager to leave.

As the door closed behind your aunt and Aki, you turned to Rin with a grin. "So, when's our next babysitting gig?"

"Never," Rin said firmly, though the corners of his mouth twitched upward.

You laughed, bumping his shoulder. "Admit it, you had fun."

"Not a chance," Rin said, but the softness in his gaze told a different story.
