It had been a few weeks since the beach trip, and things had only become more fun and complicated with Rin. The teasing, while still constant, had become a lot less uncomfortable for both of you. In fact, you started to find it more amusing than anything else, especially since the bond between you and Rin had deepened in ways neither of you had expected.

It was a rare day off from training, and the group had gathered at your house to relax after a week of intense sessions. As usual, Bachira was being his usual chaotic self, pulling out his phone and showing everyone funny pictures of cats and dogs.

"I want a pet," Bachira announced, looking at the others with wide, exaggerated eyes. "They're so cute. I don't know if I want a dog or a cat though."

"Just get both," Nagi said nonchalantly, lounging on the couch and scrolling through his own phone. "One cat and one dog. That way, you can have the best of both worlds."

"I think Rin and [Your Name] should get a pet," Isagi chimed in with a mischievous grin. "You two would make the perfect pet parents."

Rin raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by the suggestion. "What makes you think we'd want a pet?"

"Because you two have been glued together for months," Chigiri pointed out with a playful look. "You'd probably be good at it."

You rolled your eyes. "We're not getting a pet," you said, though deep down, the idea didn't seem so bad.

But Bachira was already getting excited. "No, no, hear me out. I think you two should make a bet about it. Get a dog or a cat and see who takes care of it better. Whoever loses has to do the other's chores for a week."

Rin immediately looked at you, a sly grin forming on his face. "I'm taking that bet."

You tilted your head, raising an eyebrow. "Are you sure about that? You might regret it."

"You're not going to win this," Rin said confidently. "I've always been good at taking care of things."

You smirked. "Oh, we'll see about that."

The bet was on, and after some discussion, you both agreed that you would either get a cat or a dog, but you'd have to choose which one you'd prefer later. With the decision made, everyone was eager to see how this would play out, but no one expected what happened next.

A few days later, you and Rin found yourselves in a pet store, walking around the aisles filled with excited puppies and curious kittens. Rin's usual stoic demeanor was replaced with an almost childlike interest as he looked at the puppies playing in their pens. You laughed to yourself, watching him struggle with the decision.

"I don't know," Rin muttered, unsure whether to look at the dogs or the cats. "I kind of like the puppies, but the kittens are cute too."

You raised an eyebrow. "You sound so unsure for someone who was so confident you'd win the bet."

"I just want a good pet," Rin said, scratching his head. "But I can't deny that I'm kind of leaning toward the dog. Maybe it's because I've never had one before."

"I'm more of a cat person," you admitted, running your fingers through the soft fur of a calico kitten. "They're low-maintenance and independent, and they don't require constant attention."

But just as you said that, you found yourself turning to a nearby pen where a tiny, fluffy puppy was wagging its tail, looking at you with big, innocent eyes. The puppy bounded over to the fence and pawed at it, trying to get your attention. Rin, noticing your soft spot for the dog, raised an eyebrow.

"That's not a cat," he teased.

You rolled your eyes, but couldn't help but smile at the puppy's antics. "Fine. We'll go with the dog."

Rin smirked. "You're going to regret this. You have no idea how much work a dog is."

"I'll take my chances."

After much back and forth, you and Rin finally made your decision. You got the puppy, and Rin picked out a kitten for himself. It was a silly bet, but it brought you both closer. You spent the next few days setting up the perfect spaces in your homes for your new pets. Rin, despite his calm demeanor, found himself thoroughly enjoying his time with the kitten, and you were equally smitten with your playful puppy.

But the real fun began when you two were at Blue Lock again, and everyone noticed the pets you had chosen.

"Wait, so you really got a puppy?" Bachira asked, his voice full of shock. "And you got a kitten, Rin? You guys are like actual parents."

"You two are the cutest pet parents ever," Chigiri added with a grin.

"I have to admit," Isagi said, "this is starting to look like a full family."

That was when Sae, who had been hanging back watching all the banter unfold, spoke up. The older Itoshi brother—who had been largely uninterested in the team's dynamic—finally commented with an almost indifferent tone.

"You two seriously look like you're starting a family."

Rin, usually unaffected by most comments, looked over at his brother with a raised eyebrow. "What do you mean by that?"

Sae shrugged nonchalantly, his gaze sweeping over you and Rin. "The whole thing. The matching outfits, the pets, how you're always together. It's starting to seem like you two are living a family life now."

You couldn't help but laugh at Sae's bluntness. "Well, we haven't gotten to the kids part yet, but we'll see."

Everyone turned to you, surprised at your comment. "Wait, are you two seriously considering having kids?" Bachira asked, clearly taking the joke too far.

"No, we're not having kids anytime soon," you said quickly, trying to put out the fire.

"But it's not a bad idea," Rin added with a playful grin. "Maybe we'll get a bigger house first, though."

The whole group burst into laughter, unable to control their amusement. The teasing reached new heights, but you couldn't help but notice how much Rin seemed to enjoy the lighthearted moment.

Even Sae, who rarely got involved in anything, looked like he was about to smile. "I'll be curious to see how this turns out. You two actually do seem like you could pull it off."

"Thanks, I think," Rin said dryly, but the smile that tugged at his lips said otherwise.

Later that evening, you and Rin found yourselves alone, just like the night at the beach. You were sitting on the couch, the puppy curled up in your lap and the kitten purring contentedly beside Rin.

"That was weird," you said, looking over at Rin with a smile. "The whole 'family' thing."

Rin glanced at you, his expression softening. "It's not such a bad idea, is it?"

You were quiet for a moment, thinking about his words. Maybe it was the way things had changed so effortlessly between you two. Maybe it was the teasing, or maybe it was just the moment—but you found yourself nodding. "Yeah. It's not such a bad idea."

The thought lingered in the air as you and Rin shared a quiet moment together, a bond deepening without either of you needing to say a word.

And just like that, everything seemed to fall into place. A dog, a cat, a bunch of teasing from friends, and maybe—just maybe—a future that was a little bit more certain than either of you had imagined.
