It had been a few days since the babysitting fiasco, and you were finally starting to recover from the chaos. Or at least, you thought you were—until Rin showed up unannounced at your door one evening, looking as awkward as you'd ever seen him.

He stood there with his hands in his hoodie pockets, avoiding your gaze. "We need to talk," he muttered.

You raised an eyebrow, stepping aside to let him in. "Wow, no 'hello' or anything? What's going on?"

Rin walked past you into the living room, clearly uncomfortable. He sat down on the couch, his posture stiff, and glanced at you briefly before looking away again.

"I... want to ask you something," he said finally, his voice quieter than usual.

You sat down across from him, now thoroughly curious. "Okay. What is it?"

Rin took a deep breath, his ears tinged with pink. "Do you... want to go out? With me?"

For a moment, you just blinked at him, unsure if you'd heard him right. "Like... on a date?"

Rin nodded, still not meeting your eyes. "Yeah. A date."

Your heart skipped a beat, and you had to fight to keep your voice steady. "Are you serious right now?"

"Do I look like I'm joking?" Rin shot back, though his tone lacked its usual sharpness.

A smile slowly spread across your face. "Okay. Sure, I'll go on a date with you."

Rin's shoulders relaxed slightly, and he nodded as if he'd just won a hard-fought match. "Good. Saturday, then."

"Saturday works," you said, still grinning.

Rin stood up, clearly eager to escape before the moment got any more embarrassing for him. "I'll text you the details."

"Looking forward to it," you teased as he headed for the door.

The Rumor Mill Starts Turning

The next day at Blue Lock, it didn't take long for people to notice something was up. Rin was quieter than usual (which was saying something), and you couldn't stop smiling, no matter how hard you tried.

It wasn't long before Bachira, always the chaos instigator, started poking around for answers.

"Okay, spill," he said, plopping down beside you during a break. "What's got you so smiley today? Did Rin finally confess his undying love for you?"

You nearly choked on your water. "What? No!"

Bachira's eyes lit up. "Oh, so he did say something!"

"I didn't say that!" you protested, your face heating up.

"Come on, [Your Name], you can tell me," Bachira said, leaning in conspiratorially. "We're friends, right?"

Before you could respond, Chigiri joined the conversation, his sharp eyes narrowing as he looked between you and Bachira. "What's going on?"

"[Your Name] is hiding something," Bachira said dramatically. "I think it's about Rin."

"Of course it's about Rin," Chigiri said, smirking. "They've been acting weird around each other all day."

"I'm right here, you know," you said, glaring at them.

"Then tell us what's going on," Bachira said, grinning.

You sighed, realizing there was no escaping this. "Fine. Rin asked me out. Happy?"

The effect was immediate. Bachira's jaw dropped, and Chigiri raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"He what?" Bachira practically shouted.

"Keep your voice down!" you hissed, glancing around to make sure no one else was listening.

Chigiri's smirk widened. "Well, it's about time. I was starting to think you two would never get together."

"We're not 'together,'" you said quickly. "It's just one date."

"Yet," Bachira said, winking. "You're not 'together' yet."

The Shipping Begins

Unfortunately, it didn't take long for the news to spread. By lunchtime, nearly everyone in Blue Lock seemed to know about Rin asking you out, and the reactions were as chaotic as you'd expected.

Group Chat: "Blue Lock Chaos"

Bachira:
BREAKING NEWS: Rin and [Your Name] are going on a date. The world is healing.

Chigiri:
Finally.

Isagi:
Wait, what? Since when?

Nagi:
Rin? Dating? Too much effort.

Reo:
I called it. Pay up, Nagi.

Bachira:
New ship name: Rinya? Riname? Suggestions?

Chigiri:
Please stop.

[Your Name]:
You guys are the worst.

Bachira:
You love us. Almost as much as Rin loves you.

[Your Name]:
I hate you.

Chigiri:
Don't deny it. You're blushing right now, aren't you?

You groaned, setting your phone face-down on the table. "I'm going to kill them."

Rin, who had been sitting silently across from you, glanced up from his food. "What's going on now?"

"They're shipping us," you said, glaring at your phone.

Rin raised an eyebrow. "Shipping us?"

"Like, as a couple," you explained, cringing slightly.

Rin frowned, clearly unimpressed. "They have too much free time."

"Tell me about it," you muttered.

The Build-Up

As Saturday approached, the teasing only got worse. People kept giving you knowing looks, making comments about how "cute" you and Rin were together, and speculating about where he might take you for your date.

By the time Saturday rolled around, you were a bundle of nerves. Rin showed up at your apartment right on time, looking effortlessly cool in a casual hoodie and jeans.

"You ready?" he asked, his expression calm as ever.

"As I'll ever be," you said, grabbing your bag.

The Date

The two of you ended up at a quiet café Rin had found, tucked away from the usual crowds. It was surprisingly cozy, with soft lighting and a relaxed atmosphere.

"This is nice," you said as you sat down across from him.

Rin nodded, glancing out the window. "I thought you'd like it."

The conversation flowed more easily than you'd expected, and by the time your food arrived, you found yourself laughing at Rin's dry humor and sharing stories about your childhood.

For a moment, it felt like the rest of the world didn't exist—no Blue Lock, no nosy teammates, no group chats full of chaos. Just you and Rin, enjoying each other's company.

As the date came to an end, Rin walked you back to your apartment, his hands tucked into his pockets.

"Thanks for tonight," you said, smiling up at him.

Rin nodded, his gaze soft. "I'll... see you tomorrow."

"Yeah," you said, your heart fluttering as he turned to leave.

You didn't think anything could ruin the moment—until your phone buzzed with another message from the group chat.

Bachira:
So, how was it? Did Rin kiss you?

You groaned, burying your face in your hands. "I'm blocking them all."

Rin smirked as he walked away, his voice carrying back to you. "Told you."
