The night of the sleepover at the beach house was full of laughter, teasing, and bonding. Despite the chaos from your teammates and their non-stop teasing about you and Rin, you found yourself feeling surprisingly comfortable. Maybe it was the warmth of the fire crackling in the corner, the soft music playing in the background, or just being surrounded by friends—but you couldn't deny the new sense of closeness with Rin. It felt natural.
When you finally found a quiet moment, you ended up drifting off to sleep on the couch, tired from a full day of beach fun and games. The last thing you remembered was Rin sitting beside you, seemingly lost in his thoughts but still there, quietly keeping you company.
You woke up the next morning to the sound of your teammates already up and about. You blinked a few times, disoriented at first, before realizing where you were. You hadn't made it to one of the beds, but the couch was surprisingly comfy. However, you didn't find yourself alone—Rin was still sitting beside you, having apparently fallen asleep not far from where you had drifted off.
You took a deep breath, trying to adjust to the morning light that streamed through the windows. As you sat up, you noticed how your hand was resting on Rin's arm. The closeness made your heart race for a moment, but you shook it off, pretending it was nothing.
Rin, noticing that you were awake, yawned and stretched, his hair slightly messier than usual. He looked at you, blinking sleepily. "Morning."
"Morning," you said, rubbing your eyes and smiling at him.
But before either of you could get up, you heard Bachira's loud voice from the other room. "Hey, lovebirds! Are you two awake yet?"
You groaned inwardly. The teasing never stopped.
"Shut up, Bachira!" Isagi called from the kitchen, clearly annoyed but trying to hold back a grin. "Let them wake up in peace."
Nagi, ever the observer, looked over from his spot on the couch. "You two look the same, even in your sleep. It's uncanny."
You glanced at Rin, both of you now slightly uncomfortable under the weight of their relentless teasing. But then Rin's lips twitched in amusement, and you caught yourself laughing despite the situation.
"I'm going to kill him," Rin muttered under his breath, though his tone was light and playful.
You could see the way his eyes softened, the small smile tugging at his lips as he looked at you. Maybe it was the familiarity or the comfort of having everyone around, but it felt like something had shifted between you and Rin. The teasing was just that—a joke. Something to laugh at, not to be embarrassed by.
The team gathered around the breakfast table, passing food around and continuing their non-stop teasing. Despite the constant jabs, you didn't feel embarrassed anymore. In fact, you were getting used to it.
"So, [Your Name], Rin..." Bachira began, his grin far too wide. "When's the big day? Or should we start picking out a cake for the wedding?"
Rin, clearly trying to play it cool, rolled his eyes. "You're annoying."
You tried to focus on eating your pancakes, but it was hard when everyone was making googly eyes at you and Rin.
"I'm serious though," Chigiri said with a teasing glint in his eyes. "You two are always together. It's practically official at this point."
Isagi snickered. "At least we know who the power couple is. They match, they win games together, they're always together."
You glanced at Rin from across the table, meeting his gaze. A knowing smile tugged at the corners of your mouth. "Guess they're right," you said nonchalantly.
Rin's eyes softened, and he seemed almost embarrassed. "Don't make it worse, [Your Name]."
But you couldn't help it. With everyone pushing you both together, and the undeniable chemistry between you two, it felt too good to deny.
After breakfast, the team decided to head out to the nearby boardwalk. It was a sunny, breezy day, and everyone was eager to spend the last day of the trip enjoying each other's company before the competition and training would consume them again.
Rin and you walked together, still enjoying the easygoing atmosphere. Despite all the teasing, the day felt different. It felt like the beginning of something new—like your bond with Rin had gone beyond the playful back-and-forth of teammates and reached a new level of comfort and understanding.
You couldn't help but notice that as you two walked, people seemed to take notice of how you moved together. The quiet glances you exchanged, the small gestures like Rin holding the door open for you, or you laughing at something he said. It felt almost like you were a couple, and the idea didn't feel so strange anymore.
As you reached the boardwalk, your friends began taking pictures to capture the day, always snapping shots of you two together. Despite your protests, they were relentless.
"You two make a great pair, so let's make this official," Bachira said, pushing you and Rin into the perfect shot. He motioned for everyone to gather around as you stood beside Rin, arms around each other in a casual yet affectionate way.
The camera clicked, capturing the moment. You and Rin exchanged an amused glance as Bachira snapped several more shots.
"I'm going to be the one to post this," Bachira said, already typing on his phone. "The world deserves to see this."
You laughed, but as the moment passed, something inside you started to shift. Maybe you weren't ready to label everything, but it was clear—whatever this was between you and Rin was real.
"I can't believe I'm saying this," you said to Rin as the photos were uploaded to Instagram, "but this is kind of fun. All the teasing, the questions..."
Rin glanced at you, his expression unusually soft. "Yeah, well... at least you're handling it better than I am." He grinned, then added in his usual tone. "I thought you'd be more awkward about it."
You smiled back, feeling a warmth spread through you. "Maybe I'm just getting used to the idea."
"Good," Rin said, his voice quieter this time. "I'm glad you're okay with it. Because I think I'm okay with it too."
As the day came to a close, the team gathered one more time around a bonfire on the beach. The setting sun cast a golden glow on everything, and the waves lapped softly at the shore. It was the perfect end to an incredible day.
As everyone settled down to roast marshmallows and share stories, Rin turned to you. His voice was lower than usual. "You know, this is a nice break... but I kind of wish it could last longer."
You met his gaze, heart skipping a beat. "Me too."
He smiled, the expression more genuine than you'd ever seen. "We'll make more moments like this. I promise."
It was a promise that felt more meaningful than any words could convey, and as the night continued with your friends around the fire, you realized you didn't mind the teasing anymore. The teasing was just a part of it, but what really mattered was the connection that was slowly growing between you and Rin. And for once, it didn't feel so bad being in the spotlight.
Because now, you were more than just a teammate. You were starting to become something else—something that felt like it might last.
