It was the day of your birthday, and the air was filled with excitement. Your family, who had been planning the celebration for weeks, was coming over to your place for a big celebration. It had been a while since your last family gathering—between soccer training, Blue Lock, and spending time with Rin and your teammates, life had been moving at a fast pace. But today, it was all about you, and you couldn't help but feel a little giddy about it.

As the morning passed, you found yourself preparing for the party. Your mom had already started decorating the living room with balloons and streamers in your favorite colors. Your cousin, who was a little bundle of energy, was running around the house, laughing and playing with your puppy. The puppy had become a hit with your family already, and it was clear that your decision to adopt it had been the right one.

Rin, as usual, was right by your side, helping set up things for the party. He'd already helped with the food, placing snacks and appetizers in neat rows on the dining table. The two of you had become quite the team, whether it was taking care of the pets, doing errands, or simply spending time together. It was almost like second nature now.

"You look busy," you said with a teasing grin, handing him a plate of appetizers. "I thought I was supposed to be the one who's busy today."

Rin chuckled, but there was something soft in his eyes as he looked at you. "You've been busy with everything else. Let me help." He glanced at the decorations with a raised eyebrow. "This is... a lot, huh?"

You laughed, shrugging. "My mom's idea of a 'low-key' party is definitely different from most people's."

"Definitely," Rin said, looking around at the streamers and balloons, his face softening in amusement. "But it's your birthday. You deserve it."

You felt a warmth in your chest. It was moments like this that made you realize just how much things had changed—how much Rin had changed in your life. The quiet moments, the simple acts of kindness, the way he seemed to care about your happiness in ways you hadn't expected.

As the doorbell rang, your excitement grew. You quickly ran to the door and opened it, finding your parents and a few relatives standing there with big smiles. Your mom immediately pulled you into a tight hug, and you laughed, trying to wiggle out of her embrace.

"Happy birthday, sweetheart!" she said, pulling back and giving you a warm smile. "I can't believe how much you've grown."

You smiled at your mom. "Thanks, Mom. You didn't have to go all out."

"Of course I did," she said, rolling her eyes. "This is a big one! You're growing up, and I'm so proud of you."

Rin, who had been quietly standing by, took a step forward. "Hi, Mr. and Mrs. [Your Last Name]." He gave a polite bow, his tone respectful but still relaxed.

Your mom's eyes immediately lit up as she saw Rin, and she gave him a welcoming smile. "Oh, Rin! You're here! I'm so glad you could join us. You've been such a good influence on [Your Name]."

You felt your cheeks heat up at her words, but Rin just nodded and smiled. "It's a pleasure to be here."

Your relatives soon followed, and before long, the house was buzzing with conversation, laughter, and the sound of your puppy barking happily. Your cousin—who you hadn't seen in a while—immediately ran over to Rin, pulling on his shirt. "Can you play with me and the puppy?" they asked excitedly.

Rin looked down at your cousin with an almost amused expression. He'd never really been around younger kids much, but he seemed to be adjusting quite well. "I guess I can," he said, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

And just like that, Rin found himself playing with your cousin and the puppy, while your family settled into the living room. The whole scene felt like something out of a perfect daydream. Everyone was happy, and you were surrounded by the people who loved you.

The party continued into the evening, and after a while, it was time for the big moment—the cake cutting. Your mom, with great ceremony, brought out the cake, decorated with your favorite colors and flavors. The candles were lit, and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" with enthusiasm.

As you made your wish, you couldn't help but glance over at Rin. He was standing next to you, a small, fond smile on his face. You had no idea what you'd wished for, but you realized that, in a way, you didn't need to—everything felt right.

When the cake was cut and served, the conversation drifted to more relaxed topics. You were sitting next to Rin, chatting about small things, when your aunt leaned over and caught you off guard.

"So, [Your Name]," she said with a sly smile, "I have to say, Rin's been a great help today. He's definitely been acting like part of the family."

Your face went red immediately. "Aunt, please—"

"No need to be shy," she continued, her eyes twinkling. "I can tell you two make a great team. In fact, you're only missing one thing to make this family perfect..."

You looked at her nervously, not sure where this was going, but she simply pointed at your puppy and kitten, then at the two of you.

"If you two keep going like this, you're going to need a couple of kids to make the family complete," she teased, winking at you.

Everyone around the table started to laugh, and you felt your heart race. You glanced over at Rin, who was clearly caught off guard by the comment.

"Maybe one day," Rin said, though there was an unmistakable softness in his voice.

"You two are already acting like a family," your mom chimed in with a smile. "It's nice to see you two getting along so well."

You could only laugh awkwardly, hoping the conversation would shift, but secretly, part of you didn't mind it. You and Rin had come so far together, and in that moment, it felt like everything was falling into place.

As the party wound down, the last few guests said their goodbyes, and the house began to quiet down. You found yourself sitting on the porch with Rin, watching the stars twinkle above. The party had been chaotic, filled with laughter and loud conversations, but now it was just the two of you, your puppy resting at your feet, and the peaceful night surrounding you.

"Thanks for everything today," you said, looking up at him. "It was... fun. Even if everyone kept teasing us about being a family."

Rin looked over at you, his gaze softening. "It was a good day," he said quietly. "I'm glad I could be here with you. You deserve to have a special day."

You smiled, feeling a warm, contented feeling in your chest. "I'm glad you're here too, Rin. It wouldn't have been the same without you."

For a moment, there was silence between you two, but it wasn't uncomfortable. It felt natural. You didn't need words to explain what you were both feeling—it was just there, in the air between you. A connection, built over time and strengthened with each passing moment.

And as the night stretched on, you realized that sometimes, the family you choose can be the one that makes you feel whole.
