It had been a few weeks since you and Rin had come to terms with the life-changing news. The two of you had spent time adjusting, soaking in the idea of becoming parents together. Rin, who had always been calm and composed, seemed to radiate a quiet excitement that you couldn't help but notice. He was ready for this. And so were you.
But there was still one thing that lingered—telling the rest of the team. You both knew that it wouldn't be easy, especially with all the attention that came with being a part of Blue Lock. But you also knew it couldn't stay a secret forever. You were ready to face the world together, as a family.
The decision was made. Tonight, after a casual team dinner, you would finally tell everyone. It felt like the right time—the right moment for everyone to hear the news, for all your friends and teammates to understand. No more hiding, no more secrets. It was time to share the next chapter of your life.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was laid-back. The team was talking about the usual: upcoming matches, training schedules, jokes flying back and forth. You sat beside Rin, your hand subtly resting against his, sharing knowing glances as you both prepared yourselves for what was coming.
Sae, of course, was in the middle of a heated debate with Reo about the best training strategies when you cleared your throat, catching everyone's attention.
"Hey, guys," you began, your voice steady but carrying a weight that silenced the table. "Rin and I have something important to share with all of you."
The room immediately quieted, eyes turning toward you and Rin. The curiosity was palpable. A few of the players exchanged confused glances. Even Isagi, who normally stayed focused on the game, gave you a puzzled look. Everyone was waiting for the big reveal, but none of them could have guessed what was coming.
Rin shifted slightly in his seat, looking at you with a soft, supportive smile. You took a deep breath, your heart racing as you shared a look with him. Then, with one simple sentence, you dropped the bombshell.
"We're having a baby," you said, your voice calm but loud enough to carry through the room. "Rin and I are going to be parents."
The room went dead silent.
For a long moment, no one spoke. The players stared at you both as if they weren't sure if they had heard you correctly. It wasn't that they doubted the truth—it was just... unexpected.
Reo, who usually had a response for everything, was the first to break the silence. "Wait, what? You're what?!" His voice was a mix of shock and disbelief.
"I didn't expect that at all..." Chigiri muttered under his breath, wide-eyed.
"Are you serious?" Bachira asked, blinking at you both, looking like he might burst out laughing. "Like... reallyserious?"
You nodded, your hand gently resting on your stomach. "Yeah, really serious. We've known for a while now, and we've been keeping it to ourselves for the time being. But now we're ready to share it with all of you."
The shock didn't seem to wear off immediately, but then came the laughter. It was slow at first, hesitant, but soon enough, the entire table erupted into surprised, joyous laughter. Even Sae, who had initially been taken aback, started to chuckle, shaking his head.
"Well, I can't say I saw that coming," Sae said with a smirk, a playful glint in his eyes. "But if anyone's going to have a family like this, it's probably you two."
Sae turned to Rin, his smile wide. "Man, I gotta admit, you're going to be a great dad. A little unexpected, but I'm happy for you both."
Reo was still trying to process. "Wait... So, you two—Rin, you—you're going to be a dad?! And [Your Name] is having a baby?!" He leaned forward, eyes almost popping out of his head.
You nodded, and Rin gave a soft, almost bashful smile. "Yeah. It's... a lot to take in, but we're both really excited about it."
Isagi finally spoke up, his usual calm demeanor giving way to a more heartfelt tone. "That's amazing," he said, his voice warm. "You're both going to be great parents."
As the room slowly began to absorb the news, the congratulations started pouring in. It felt surreal to hear the team offering their best wishes, even though you had spent so much time worrying about how they might react. They were happy for you, in their own way.
"I guess that makes you both the official Blue Lock couple now, huh?" Bachira teased, nudging Rin playfully.
The comment made you and Rin both laugh. "Don't start," Rin warned, but there was a slight blush on his cheeks, his hand still resting on yours.
After the laughter died down, the team went back to teasing and congratulating you, but you could see the sincerity in their eyes. Even the toughest members of the team had softened, offering words of support and congratulations. It felt like a family, a group of people who, despite the competition, genuinely cared for each other.
But it was when Kiyoshi, the quiet one, spoke up that you truly felt the weight of it all.
"You two... you're going to be great parents. Don't forget to ask for help when you need it, okay?" Kiyoshi said, his voice quiet but reassuring. He offered Rin a knowing smile. "Trust me, you're going to need it. It's a lot of responsibility, but I know you'll take care of each other."
The room fell into a comfortable silence, and you realized that this team—this group of athletes who had spent so much time competing against each other—was now united by something even bigger than soccer.
"We'll be fine," Rin said, his voice steady. "I'm ready for it. We're ready."
The dinner ended on a high note, with everyone continuing to joke and talk about the big news. But you and Rin exchanged a quiet moment at the end of the evening. The weight of it all hadn't truly hit you until now—how much your life was about to change, how much you and Rin had grown together over the months.
As you left the restaurant, walking side by side, Rin took your hand, his fingers interlacing with yours.
"I can't believe we just told everyone," you said, a little laugh escaping your lips.
Rin looked at you, his smile genuine and full of emotion. "I know, but it feels good. It feels like it's real now. And I'm excited to see what comes next for us... for our family."
You smiled up at him, your heart full. "Me too, Rin. Me too."
As you both walked into the night, the world seemed a little brighter. The future, though uncertain, felt filled with love and possibility. And for the first time in a long while, it was clear that whatever came next, you and Rin would face it together—building your family, side by side.
