Sam: Hi Cane.

When the door opened, Sam greeted her friend with a smirk. However, Cane's expression was starkly different. His brows furrowed slightly, and a hint of irritation flickered in his eyes as he saw her standing on his doorstep.

Cane: What are you doing here, Sam?

Sam: Arent you going to invite me in?

Cane: I would rather not. We should avoid each other; my wife would like it that way.

Sam: You have changed so much, Cane. Seeing you throwing away a long-time friendship because of her is a shame. But honestly, I was going to do that anyway. I just wanted to open your eyes before I could go ahead and ruin her life like she did to mine.

Cane: what are you talking about? Your girlfriend was the one that almost made my wife lose our baby.

Sam: If I were you, I would ensure that baby is yours. Coming from a lying bitch like her, I wouldn't be surprised.

Cane: Watch how you talk about my family. I won't admit you coming to my door to insult my family like this. It doesn't matter how long we've been friends. Jane has never done any harm to you. You used to get along well with her before Mon came into the picture.

Sam couldn't help but let a mischievous smile dance across her lips as she observed the growing frustration etched on his face. The way his eyebrows knitted together and his jaw clenched was almost entertaining. The atmosphere shifted as the person she truly wanted to see walked in behind Cane.

Jane: Cane, what's going on?

Jane's expression changed when she noticed Sam standing before their door.

Jane: Why is she here? I thought I said I didn't want to see them again. Call the police!

Sam: Oh, don't worry about it. I have already contacted them. You should be appealing before the judge soon.

Cane: What are you talking about, Sam?

Sam: Right. I forgot you're still clueless about the woman who has been sleeping beside you every night for the past years.

Jane: Cane, babe. I am not feeling well. Close the door and come in inside.

Jane started faking, and Cane immediately became worried and tried to hold his wife by her arms.

Sam: Oh, you're such a faker, Jane. Poor Cane!

Cane: That's enough, Sam. You were my best friend. What happened to you?

Jane: close the door, babe. Please.

Jane tried to pull her husband in, but Sam acted fast before he could close the door completely.

Sam: By the way, Cane, Jane was Mon's ex-girlfriend. They dated for a few years!

Cane stopped right away and looked at Sam, shocked.

Cane: What the fuck you're saying, Sam?

Jane: I am running out of breath, Cane. She's stressing me, and that's not good for our baby. Please close the door.

As she attempted to shut the door, Cane's grip on her hand tightened, preventing her from doing so. His heart raced, a storm of emotions brewing within him. He loved his wife more than anything in the world, yet a gnawing feeling of unease lingered in the air between them. Right now, he felt trapped in a tense situation with Sam, the weight of their unresolved issues heavy on his shoulders.

Deep down, he couldn't shake the conviction that Sam would never dream of concocting something so outrageous; it simply wasn't in her nature. Sam was a woman of integrity, a steadfast promise-keeper whose honesty was as unshakeable as the ground beneath his feet. Cane had always known this about her, and it made his current predicament all the more agonizing.
