Sorry for the late update. Here you go. :)
FAYE
Faye retraces her footsteps back to the lobby, trying to forget Yoko’s words about her driver still at the parking lot. No matter how unreasonable Yoko is, she can’t just leave her boss.
Can she?
The receptionist who helped her find the way earlier recognizes Faye in an instant as soon as she stepped into the lobby.
“Ms. Peraya? Is there anything that I can help you with?”
“No,” she said, rubbing her neck. “I mean yes. Can you — give me the keycard to my supposed room? I just need some time to myself.”
“Of course, miss. Here.”
Faye plays the thing in her palm. “If it is not too much to ask, may I know what room Yoko, I mean Ms. Apasra, is staying? I’m an acquaintance. We’re very close. In fact, —.”
The receptionist cut her short. The woman’s forehead creased.
“You will share the room with Ms. Apasra, miss.”
“What!”
Her disbelief echoes in the almost empty hall.
Faye clears her throat. “I’m sorry, but can you repeat that?,” she said with a fake chuckle. “I think I misheard something.”
The woman checks the large monitor in front of her. “You and Ms. Apasra will be staying in one room, ma’am.”
Faye did all her best not to exclaim. “Of course we are. Er, thank you. If you’ll, uh — excuse me for a second.”
She walks briskly as far away from the front desk before dialing Ice’s number.
Faye can only hope that the doctor is still awake.
But then she remembers the doctor is with Marissa.
Ice answers the phone with a yawn. “Faye?”
“Hey! Are you, er, decent?”
“What’s that even supposed to mean?”
Never mind.
“Why is it that me and Yoko are staying in the same room?”
“Oh. Is the party over? Did you meet any —?”
“Ice!”
Faye looks back to see if anyone’s paying attention, but there are no people in the hallway.
“I’m sorry. Just answer me, please.”
"Alright. Hold on a second."
The next thing she knows, it was Marissa answering on the other end.
The young woman’s voice is still husky from the cold.
“Hi, Faye. I forgot to inform you. It must have slipped my mind. It’s actually Ms. Bho who made the room's reservations. I’m sorry.”
She sigh.
Of course, it’s the hosts.
“Right.”
“Is everything alright, Faye?”
“Ah, yes, of course. You should take some rest now. Sorry for bothering you.”
“It’s nothing. You can call me anytime.”
Faye thanked the young woman before hanging up, feeling a little guilty for bothering the sick assistant.
