YOKO

"Yo," Marissa said. "Do you want to go home together or?"

"You can go first. I'll, uh -." Yoko opens a journal, looking for nothing at all.

She isn't even productive all day, and she hates it.

Yoko closes the notebook with a sigh. "I'll stay for a while."

She looks outside the window. It's already dark.

The young woman studies her for a while before nodding. "Alright. Ice will drive me home." Marissa kisses her temple then. "Call me if you need anything."

Yoko squeezes Marissa's hand on her shoulder. "Yeah."

Yoko blows her hands and rubs it together. When the warmth doesn't last long, she crosses her arms.

Why is it so cold tonight, anyway?

Nonetheless, the beautiful night sky is worth it. And it would be better if she had someone to share it with.

She pulls out the phone from her pocket but pauses.

Earlier, when Marissa told her that Faye wasn't going in the office anymore, she sent her a text after talking to Fon. When Faye didn't reply, she thought of calling her bodyguard, but thought better of it.

Yoko stares at Faye's contact. "Her return really shaken you up, huh?"

But considering Faye's situation, she would also be in shock if someone she loved came back from the dead.

Love?

What a terrible thing.

When the night couldn't get any colder and the stars ahead couldn't get any shinier, Yoko stands and grabs her crutch.

When she turns, though, and sees someone, her heart almost drops.

But her chest aches differently when she figures who it is.

"How long have you been there?"

Faye shrugs. "Err - long enough that I can barely feel my hands?"

"I thought - you went back home?"

"I did. I just think that it will be unfair not to talk to you after what happened."

With the things that are happening between them right now, she's not even sure which one Faye wants to talk about.

Hopefully, all of it.

Before she can ask her, her phone suddenly rings. Yoko rolls her eyes at the interruption.

But when she sees it's her mom, she frantically takes the call.

"Yoko! Big is drunk!"

"What? Pass him the phone, mom."

"He's too drunk. I can't even understand what he's saying."

"I'll be right there."

Faye is kind enough to drive her home. And considerate enough not to talk about anything but her brother.

And although she's dying to talk to her about the two of them, a breather is always welcome.

Perhaps Faye needs it, too.

The fact that she's with her now is something to be grateful for.

"Yoko?"

"Huh?"

A ghost of a smile forms Faye's luscious lips. "Big never been drunk before?"

"Ah! No. He can always handle his alcohol."
