"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing." - Helen Keller
YOKO
"Yo. Are you sure this is a good idea?" Marissa's question reverberates in the parking lot.
Ice looks at them then, before pulling Ryn away from them for a second.
"Doc, I'm seeing my father today!" The kid exclaims as they disappear into a corner for a while.
While Martin is busy preparing a seat for the kid inside the van, Yoko faces her best friend.
"Her father still has 6 years to spend there. The kid is growing fast. Wouldn't it be a shame if she didn't see him sooner?"
Marissa squeezes her shoulder. "I'm thinking about you, too."
"I know." She pats Marissa's hand. "I'll be fine. I won't be talking to Sakda, anyway. Did you call Mr. Bunmi?"
"He's on his way. He said he'll see you there."
"He is not angry or anything?"
"It doesn't sound that way."
And here she thought she was overstepping.
Ice and Ryn returned with the kid holding a small puppy doll; it was Ice's comfort doll.
"Take care of this chubby kid for me, Yo. Or I'll break your bones."
It earns a scoff from her. "Yes, ma'am."
Before they leave though, Marissa caught her attention.
"Yo."
"Hmm?"
"Err - Sakda currently has a visitor. I think you should know."
"Who?"
FAYE
"So - what are you going to do now?"
The last person she thought of talking about her love life is Sakda, and yet there she is.
She can't even remember how she ended up talking about Fon and Yoko to him.
Faye shrugs. "Maybe there's nothing to do, alright?"
"That's bullshit."
Aditeph eyes the nearby warden warily before whispering. "You can finally move on or find someone else. Or you know, pursue the one you already found. I don't know."
It's not like she didn't think of pursuing Yoko, alright. If she's being honest with herself, it's more like she's gathering enough courage to do so.
"I've already moved on. Just so you know."
"Good for you, then. Just don't expect me to give you a deep love advice. I'm terrible at that."
Faye scoffs.
As though she needs a reminder of that.
Sakda becomes quiet for a second as though deep in thought. "How's my kid?"
"Ryn is fine. We're taking good care or her. As I promise."
"I know. I know." Aditeph's hand brushes up his stray hair with shaky hands. It was only then she realized how thin he becomes.
"I'll pay for a dinner for you tonight."
"You don't have to but - thank you," he said with a sigh. "How's your wound? I've heard you were stabbed."
