YOKO

Fon Chakri, she typed on the iPad, as Martin weaves his way through the traffic. Yoko rarely reads in the car unless it's important.

A thing that even her driver takes notice, it seems.

"Do you want me to slow down, miss?"

"No. You're doing fine."

After the car swerves in the corner, Yoko continues reading.

From the records, it seems like the Chakri family hasn't made an announcement of their child's return yet.

What appears on the first page, though, is news about Mr. Amon Chakri's hospitalization 4 months ago.

Fon is an only child. And based on some articles, an excellent student back when she was still in the university.

Yoko even saw the accident she was in years ago. She didn't read it because right now, it's obviously useless.

Before she knows it, they are making their way to the parking lot.

"I'll leave my line open in case you're going somewhere, miss."

"No need for that. Um, can you check on my brother instead? He's not responding to my texts this morning."

"Yes, of course."

"Oh, and no need for you to come back tonight. The other car is here. Marissa can drive me home later."

Marissa greeted her as soon as she stepped out of the elevator.

"Oh, thank God you're here."

"What is it?"

"Fondant is here."

"Fondant?"

"Sorry. I already gave her a nickname," Marissa whispers, although they are the only ones around.

"Is she with Faye?"

She doesn't want to sound jealous or whatever, but Marissa will surely understand.

"Faye informed me she wouldn't go to the office today."

"I see."

"Yo, you don't need to talk to her if you don't want to. I don't think she's here for business, anyway."

That's what she suspects as well.

But at the back of her mind, Yoko is dying to hear what the woman has to say.

Yoko laid back on the chair before putting her good leg on top of the other.

Fon watches her with keen eyes. When the woman glances at her crutch, Yoko raises an eyebrow, as though waiting for her to ask questions.

To her surprise, she didn't.

The woman is pretty, to say the least. She has light brown eyes that even from where she sits, Yoko can tell how light and beautiful it is.

She dyed her hair blonde. It rests just above her lean shoulders, framing her round-shape face.

Based on what Yoko read earlier, she just turned 30. But she surely looks younger.

Faye must have fallen in love with her at first sight.

The woman clears her throat. "Nice office."

Yoko looks at the interior. She's so used to it that she forgot how beautiful it is, especially in strangers' eyes.

Yoko feels her chest aches with pride. "My late father oversees the construction of this interior himself. He's an architect, but I like to believe he likes the interior more."
