YOKO
“Do you want to have a date with me?”
Do I want a date? With Faye?
Date?
Did she misheard something?
But her hearing is impeccable!
“Sorry what? Can you —repeat that?”
Before Faye can answer her, something — someone, pushes her from behind. Yoko can’t help but lean into Faye’s arm.
What the —!
She’s about to snap at whoever occupies the other end of the seat, but then, being this close to Faye still stuns her.
Within an instance, Faye’s hand is drape around her waist for support.
The woman from the other side of the bench stretches her hands in the air, and yawns before looking at them.
“Oh my goodness,” the stranger said, seeing the two of them so close. “Get a room!”
The young woman ties her shoelace, throws them an uneasy gaze and jogs again, leaving the two of them more flustered than before.
Yoko scoots away from Faye as fast as she can. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”
“It’s alright.”
It’s just an almost hug what’s wrong with her?
It must be the cold.
It should be.
Yoko stands and looks away.
“I should go. The car must be waiting already.”
“I see. Uh, about my question earlier —.”
“Do you want me to forget it?”
“Ah,” Faye said with a smirk. “I’m about to repeat it since you didn’t hear it the first time.”
“Do you want to have a date with me?
Yoko limps towards Faye and kisses her cheek. “It’s a date.”
The Next Morning
YOKO
Yoko rubs the side of her temple. It’s still early and yet she can tell it will be a long day ahead. And as though she didn’t know it enough, Marissa runs her through her schedule for the day, as Martin drives them off the office parking lot.
“You’ll have your breakfast meeting with Padme’s Landscape Architects. Kate and Big are on their way there, too.”
“As they should.”
“You have a lunch meeting at the office later, too. It will probably last long and occupy the rest of your day.”
“Great.”
It’s not like she doesn’t like meetings, but two meetings in a day sounds really exhausting.
“Dr. Sing called. I told her you’ll moved your therapy session at weekends. She’s fine with it.”
“Uh, huh?”
Marissa suddenly hits her arm.
“You should go this time around or —.”
“Or you will tell my mom. I know, I know!”
“Is that all my schedule?” She asks sarcastically.
Marissa closes her notes and beams at her. “And don’t forget your dinner date at Mr. Bunmi’s restaurant later today.”
She squints her eyes at her teasing best friend. “How long are you going to tease me about it? I just want to know.”
