Lotus Jones

I sniffed as I sat up in bed, I rubbed my hands down my face and let out a groan. I tossed the covers off my body before I grabbed my phone. I checked the time and I was up early, I put my slippers before I left my room.

I jogged down the stairs and walked into the kitchen to see Mrs.Lee making breakfast. All this staff in the house and she chooses to cook herself.

"Good morning." I smiled.

I pecked her cheek before I sat at the island.

"Good morning." She said.

I fiddled with my fingers before I glanced at her.

"Did you know my dad was dying?" I blurted out.

She looked at me for a while before she let out a defeated sigh.

"I did...we came up with the plan to have you here." She admitted.

I bit my lip and nodded.

"Lotus, I wanted to tell you but you've been so happy since you've been here." She said.

Happy? The first month of me being here I got bullied. Happy...I mean I was happy now though.

"Why didn't you tell me? About the fake program?" I asked.

"You wouldn't never came if he told you he was dying and that he didn't want you to see him like that." She explained.

"How do you know one another then?" I asked.

"We went to college together. He helped with my business plan...which is why it's so successful now." She said.

I raised a brow, she was the money maker...not Mr.Lee.

"Then what happened?" I asked.

"Your mother...almost destroyed what he and I built. It got to a point where he decided to leave because it was too late to leave her. She was pregnant with you and I have heard from him until a few months before your grandmother died." She explained.

"You knew my mother?" I asked.

"I knew your mother and her sister. Her sister was different, but your mother was evil." She explained.

"What's her name?" I asked.

"Two things your father told me to do, take care of you and don't bring up your mother. Let it go..." She trailed.

I clinched and huffed as I shook my head. This is Mrs.Lee...she means no harm, I keep telling myself that so I won't snap.

"You know what...you're right. I'm going to let the past be the past, breakfast smells good." I smiled.

"I made pancakes." She smiled.

Ingrid walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge before letting out a huff.

"Where is the non fat Greek yogurt?" She asked.
