Lotus Jones
I let out a breath before I followed behind my teammates. This was a big game before our break, we needed to win this meet to proceed to the state championship. Every sports newscast was here and that made me more nervous.
"Hey, you ok?" Kang asked.
I sat on the bench and pulled my knee to my chest as I tied my shoes.
"Yeah, we got this." I chuckled.
"Damn right." He smiled.
I did my stretches before I stood up straight.
"Lotus, you're up. Remember what we practiced." Coach Min said.
"Got it." I nodded.
I walked over to the track field before getting into position. I let out a breath and closed my eyes, gangbangers and cops...gangbangers and cops is what plagued my head. The sound of the gun going off caused me to take off.
"RUN LOTUS!" Won-Yung yelled.
I picked up the pace as I reached the finish line. I slowed down and clapped my hands as I looked at the replay. I looked in the crowd and smiled before waving at Mrs.Lee.
She smiled and gave me a thumbs up. Mr.Lee looked at me and smiled before also giving me a thumbs up. He's been back and he is just as kind as Mrs.Lee.
I jogged back to my team before they patted me on the back. I let out a breath as I fanned myself.
"Great work Jones." Coach Min said patting my back.
I nodded as I grabbed a bottle of water. I watched as Kang got into position for the 100 meter and stood up. He looked over his shoulder at me and smiled.
I watched as he ran, leaving his opponent behind and smiled. He looked at the replay and nodded before he jogged toward me.
"Not bad for 2nd fastest." I chuckled.
"Shut up." He nudged me.
I chuckled before I sat down, I watched as my teammates out ran our opponents and nodded.
"Great work everyone, take this 20 to rejuvenate and relax. I need all of you focused for the relay that's the last category we need." Coach Min instructed.
Everyone nodded before I closed my eyes. It's been a few days since the blow up with Ingrid and Mrs.Lee and things around the house were tensed.
Ingrid hated my fucking guts and let me know every chance she got. If she wasn't for Mrs.Lee, I would've been knocked her up her fucking head.
I'm convinced she needs to go to a psych ward. I sat up and opened my eyes before looked at my feet, I wonder how my dad is doing. He hasn't called me since the last time we talked.
"Alright, line up." Coach Min clapped.
I shook the thoughts out of my head before I stood up. I looked at Kang and smiled.
