"So, Yugyeom has some sort of drama with Jaebum?" Eunmi said after an uncomfortable amount of silence, her eyes darting to me and then stealing a glance over at Mark. I nodded my head slowly, my own eyes traveling to Mark. He hadn't said anything since I began explaining what happened, he didn't show much of a reaction either, I think he was just trying to process this all. I know if I was told all of this I wouldn't be able to comprehend it. Biting at my bottom lip, I eventually made up scenarios in my own head. Maybe he would be mad at Yugyeom? Or maybe he would think I was being dramatic, or maybe he was flustered? Was he upset? I could never tell with Mark, even if he was someone I knew like the back of my hand. He continued to stare at his lap, his eyebrows furrowed, and he then set his hands down on his knees.
"I think..." He began, bringing a hand up to cover his mouth, he seemed to be in deep thought, so I didn't do much but stare at him. Eunmi reached over, and took my hand in hers, holding it tightly, I let out a small sigh. "That you should think about what this really means." Mark looked up at me, blinking a few times before leaning back in his seat. "If it did start out with him protecting you from someone you care about, it is for a good reason, but I can see why you think it's stupid. Jaebum is also my good friend. Sure he had a bad reputation for dating and dropping girls, but I think this was all Yugyeom being paranoid." Running his fingers through his hair, he licked his lips before nodding. "Give it a while, and monitor your feelings. If you still feel hatred for Yugyeom, maybe it ended for a good reason, but if after a while you feel regret, that means you may be ready to forgive him. But what about you and Jaebum?" He continued to speak, his eyes fluttering around, looking at Eunmi, and then to me, and finally resting on his lap again. I bit at my lip, looking down at my best friend and I's connected hands.
"Jaebum? What about him?" I spoke quietly, my free hand clenching into a weak fist, as if I was trying to grasp something. Really I needed to get a hold of reality, and I couldn't seem to find it right now. Eunmi gave me a look, that look that people give you when a cute boy walks past you at school or something.
"What about him? Babe, you two were quite friendly a few years ago." She said, obviously hinting toward our... unofficial type of relationship? I frowned slightly, though couldn't hide the fact I was blushing slightly."If you want me to spell it out for you. You and Jaebum were a thing, don't even deny it. What are you two now?"
"We're not a thing!" I almost yelled, looking down in embarrassment before clearing my throat. Eunmi narrowed her eyes at me, letting go of my hand and pushing my shoulders.
"You went to see him before you came to us didn't you?!" She yelled, her eyes widened as she gasped at me. First of all how did she know that? Second of all, this girl is good at embarrassing me. Groaning, I looked down, shaking my head.
"You went to see Jaebum before me? Wow, you like him." Mark murmured, getting up from his spot and smiling gently. With his spot open, I fell over on the couch, fake crying into the cushions.
"I don't like him! I just went to his house and then I came to you guys. Don't think I like him because I went first, cause that would make me sad again."
Eunmi reached over, giving me a hug and pulling me back up. Smiling brightly, she laughed and ruffled my hair.
"Okay, okay. Now, let's get you happy again. Which should be easy cause look at me, i'm cute." She said, smiling at me softly before sitting up and letting go of me. Mark rolled his eyes at her sentence, making me snort, and then laugh. Eunmi glared over at him, obviously she saw that. "Wanna go Mark? I'll beat you up." She yelled, getting up from her spot and looking at him.
"No, it's okay. You're too cute." He mocked, making her reach over and throw a pillow at him.
"Go get me a snack you butthead, and get our cutest Yujin a snack too. Thanks darling." She said, waving him away as she then turned to me. I still couldn't believe their weird friendship of her being borderline mean to Mark, and him happily doing whatever she asked. They were a bit confusing, maybe because I always treated Mark well and I wasn't used to her cursing at him everytime he spoke. Taking a deep breath, I got up from my spot and stretched. Now, the only way I would recover from this is spending time with people I love that wouldn't hurt me.
"Hey, i'm going to go freshen up. Also steal Mark's sweater so don't tell him that." I said, letting out a short laugh before running toward the stairs, peeking at the kitchen to see Mark picking up a bunch of snacks. I had to get back down quickly so I could eat them, so I ran up the stairs. Once I got there, I poked my head into his bedroom, opening his dresser and finding a hoodie. Slipping it on over my shirt, I put my hair up into a pony tail and went into the bathroom. Humming to myself, I turned on the tap, using warm water to wash my face. After drying it with a towel, I took a small breath, and then decided to play around with things in there. They had nice smelling soap, which was nice since nice smelling soap was fantastic. Glancing over a few things, I was about to leave when my phone rang in my pocket. Pausing, I slid it out and stared at the contact. Jaebum was calling me. Maybe I left something there?
"Hello?" I said, playing with the sleeves of Mark's sweater. It took a second, but then I could hear Jaebum taking small breaths. Either he was tired or he was nervous. Raising a brow, I waited patiently for an answer.
"Hey, Yujin." He said, clearing his throat, it sounded like he was walking, maybe pacing? Tilting my head, I stared at myself in the mirror.
"Hi, is something wrong oppa?" asking this was purely because I was curious, I would hate if something happened when I left, or because of me.
"No, no. Not really. I know you were just here and all." He took a small breath, sighing as he then hummed slightly. "I was too scared to talk to you then, to tell you in person. Yujin? I love you."
Then he hung up.
He hung up!?
"Oppa? Oppa? Did you just? Wait. What do you mean?" I knew he hung up, the dial tone was now my background music.
He loves me? Since when? Why? Why now?
He loves me...
