Let The Preparations Begin

JACK POV:

I made it back over to my classmates and Suzune had her arms crossed and was glaring at me.

Jack: What's wrong with you?

Suzune: Why were you talking to that girl?

Jack: Relax... We've met before, she just asked me a question and that was it.

She narrowed her eyes.

Suzune: What is your relationship with that girl?

Jack: She fell on the first day, I caught her and stopped her fall. And we ran into each other a few months ago. But that's it, we're hardly even acquaintances.

She heaved a deep sigh.

Suzune: Fine... Now come on.

She grabbed my hand and dragged me along. It seems she really is the jealous type...

We made it back to our classmates. They were currently having a conversation with Class A.

Hirata: So, you don't wish to work with us?

Classic Katsuragi.

Katsuragi: No. I feel we will just get in each other's way. It's better if we take this on separately.

Bad idea. Ryuen is obsessed with winning, meaning he'll do anything. So we need to work together to try and stop him.

Hirata: I see, that makes sense. We are still rivals in the fight for Class A. So-

"Oh please. Rivals? You defects aren't worth our time, that's all."

Someone spoke up from the Class A group and stepped forward. It was Yahiko.

Hirata looked confused like he didn't understand what he did to make Yahiko act so hostile.

Yahiko then looked over at me, before looking down at Suzune and I's intertwined hands.

Yahiko: Tch... And you again, you really are the worst of them.

I kept a blank face. Suzune stopped holding my hand and crossed her arms as she glared at Yahiko.

Suzune: Care to explain why you're being so hostile?

He glared right back.

Yahiko: Care to explain why you're dating such an unrefined and disgusting street rat?

Thank you for correctly referring to me as a street rat this time. I appreciate it.

The crowd that had gathered all seemed shocked.

Ike: Wait, they're dating?! Since when?!

Yamauchi: Damn! How did Jack get a girlfriend before me?!

I noticed Karuizawa and her friend group were comforting Satou. I guess I was right, she did like me. But given she just looks a bit disappointed and not heartbroken, means it was probably just a surface-level attraction.

(A/N: For those unaware, this was hinted at and implied previously, though I never explicitly stated she liked him)

Suzune couldn't respond to Yahiko's question, because I did first.

Jack: Look, man. I don't get what your problem with me is. You don't wanna work with us? Fine. But I don't see the reason why you've gotta insult me like that.

Yahiko: Because you're an unrefined defect.

Jack: We never even talked before you started calling me that. How could you possibly know that? Besides, you're the one causing trouble and insulting people for no reason. That's not something a "refined" person does.
