THIRD PERSON POV:

————————————————————————
Year: 2000
Location: Queens, New York
————————————————————————

An area of Queens, New York, that gets little to no help from the government or any charity organizations suffers from high levels of poverty, unemployment, and crime. This area was given a name by those in the county of Queens, and even the greater New York City area. It was known as...

The slums.

Within this poverty-stricken area, in a small apartment that has several past due bill notices by the door, a baby lies on the floor of the living room, which is one of only four rooms in the whole apartment. The others are a small bathroom, his father's room, and his own.

The baby looked around at the copious amounts of trash and empty bottles that littered the floor,
before it looked at a man that was in a recliner with his feet up, and drinking a beer.

The man looked down at the baby with a scowl on his face, that indicated hatred and disgust. The baby simply looked away and looked up at the ceiling, before beginning to kick its legs out, as it often did.

This baby was born unwanted. A product of a drunken night of lust between an up-and-coming local actress, and a stagehand from the project she was working on at the time.

The woman eventually got an opportunity to star in a big Hollywood movie and left the man and their newborn.

However, the man did not know this, he thought she left because of the baby. Despite them only sharing a drunken night of lust, the man loved the woman. And seeing her leave him with a child he never wanted, made him go off the rails. He began drinking and stopped working, only getting welfare and unemployment checks to keep himself from becoming homeless.

Meanwhile, the woman went to Hollywood and performed amazingly in her audition, landing her a big role in a new movie. While her baby was across the country, without a Mother.

That baby was named...

Jack White.

At the end of his Kindergarten class for the day, a little Jack watched as his classmates were picked up by their mothers, who would hug their children and hold their hands as they left.

"Mommy! Today we..."

"That's great sweetie!"

A mother embraced a boy tightly.

Boy: Stop Mom you're embarrassing me!

The mother cooed.

Mom: How can I resist when I haven't seen my baby boy all day? Come on honey, let's go home.

She then held the boy's hand as they walked off.

As the 5-year-old Jack watched all of this happen, he couldn't help but wonder...

Jack (thoughts): Why don't I have a mommy?

He decided to ask his father, who had asked him to run "an errand" for him after school. Which was in actuality, Jack stealing a case of beer from a convenience store.

But the little boy was naive and innocent, he didn't know what he was doing. He just wanted to help his father.

Upon returning home, Jack entered his disgusting apartment and sheepishly made his way over to his dad.
