JACK POV:

The cruise ship vacation came to an end, and I couldn't be happier. That vacation was NOT relaxing. Two special exams... That was hell.

But now we were back. And we could enjoy the rest of our summer vacation... Well the others could, for me? It was all about the upcoming tournament.

The Inter High National Qualification Tournament. Only a handful of teams get to represent Tokyo at the national tournament which takes place during our winter break, the finals (should we make it) being on January 1st. To qualify for nationals, we need to win this tournament.

We lose, we're done, we win, we get a chance to win it all. It's high stakes and Gojo and the other third years are taking it very seriously. This is their last chance to win nationals after all.

Nagumo is taking it about as serious as someone who doesn't even like soccer could take it. Given if we go far, we'll all get private points, and the team's top performers will get more points than the others. And he needs private points to stay in control of the second years.

Last year, Nagumo and the rest of the team were knocked out in the finals by the team that went on to win nationals, Kirisaki Daiechi.

Kirisaki is a prep school well known for its athletic programs. Many athletes from Kirisaki have gone on to represent Japan at their respective sports at the Olympics and other international events.

Their baseball program is especially well known. It's produced 7 MLB players. And even more pro baseball players that didn't quite make the majors.

Their soccer club is also just as impressive, boasting the best defense in the nation. They give up an average of 0.69 goals a game. That's ridiculous.

Similarly to their baseball club, the soccer club also boasts an impressive record of professional players to come out of the program. Several players who went to Kirisaki and were in their soccer club went on to represent Japan in the world cup and became big names in Asian soccer. A couple even went on to play in Europe. Most notably being Shinji Kagawa. Who is currently playing in Germany, for Borussia Dortmund, one of the top clubs in the world.

He's the heart of their midfield and known as one of the best if not the best Japanese player ever. And he came out of Kirisaki Daiechi.

Safe to say we've got our work cut out for us. We should be able to comfortably cruise our way through the tournament until reaching Kirisaki, which will be in the finals if we both win out.

Unfortunately for me, Nagumo has ensured that I'm not starting. Our formation and tactics for the tournament is a single striker formation that sees a large focus on Nagumo's individual ability. The point of it is so he can get as many accolades as possible, to increase the amount of private points he gets.
