*Nighttime*
Carlos stirred in his sleep, a soft gasp escaping his lips. Mal, nestled beside him, her sleep light, felt the shift in his body and murmured a sleepy, "Carlos? You okay?"
He didn't answer, his brow furrowed, his breathing shallow and quick. He was caught in a vivid dream, a vision of the future unfolding before his eyes.
He saw himself, a few years older, standing in a brightly lit nursery. Mal, her purple hair now streaked with vibrant blue, was cradling a tiny baby in her arms, her face glowing with maternal love. The baby, a girl with Mal's violet eyes and Carlos's dark hair gurgled happily, reaching for her mother's face with tiny hands.
The scene shifted, and Carlos saw himself chasing a giggling toddler through the gardens of Auradon Prep. The boy, a miniature version of Carlos with Mal's mischievous grin, squealed with delight as his father scooped him up in a bear hug.
Another shift, and he was sitting at a kitchen table, helping a young girl with her homework. The girl, a preteen with Mal's artistic flair and Carlos's love for technology was sketching intricate designs for a robot she was building. Mal, now sporting a few streaks of silver in her hair, smiled warmly at them both, a sense of peaceful contentment radiating from her.

The visions continued, growing grander and more elaborate. He saw a sprawling backyard, decorated with colorful streamers and balloons, the air filled with the sound of laughter and music. It was Mal's 20th birthday, and their two children, now older, were leading the celebration. The teenage girl, her purple hair braided with sparkling beads, presented Mal with a beautifully wrapped gift, while the younger boy, his eyes shining with excitement, held out a homemade birthday card. Mal, beaming with joy, pulled both of them into a tight hug, her laughter mingling with theirs.
Then, the scene shifted again. This time, it was Carlos's 20th birthday. They were in a cozy living room, decorated with twinkling lights and festive banners. Their children had baked a magnificent cake, adorned with candles and frosting, and were singing "Happy Birthday" with gusto. Mal, her arm wrapped around Carlos's waist, leaned in to kiss him, her love for him shining in her eyes.
The visions flickered and changed, each one a snapshot of a happy future, a life filled with love, laughter, and family. He saw birthday parties, family vacations, graduation ceremonies, and quiet evenings spent together in their cozy home. In each scene, Mal was by his side, their love a constant, their bond unbreakable.

Suddenly, a new scene materialized, sharp and clear. He was sitting on the edge of a plush bed, a book in his hand, a teenage girl with Mal's vibrant violet eyes and his own unruly dark hair perched beside him.
"Dad," she began, her voice a melodious blend of Mal's confidence and his own gentle tone, "tell me again about how you and Mom met."
A warm smile spread across Carlos's face in the vision. He glanced up, and there Mal was, leaning against the doorframe, her expression a mixture of amusement and fondness.
"Oh, you want to hear that story again?" Mal teased, her voice filled with a playful lilt.
The teenage girl nodded eagerly, her eyes wide with anticipation. "Please, Mom! It's my favorite!"
Carlos chuckled, his heart swelling with a love that transcended time and space. He launched into the familiar tale, recounting their first meeting in Remedial Goodness 101, the awkwardness, the shared glances, and the slow blossoming of their unlikely friendship. He described their adventures, their battles against evil, and the gradual realization that their bond was something truly special.
