The next morning dawned bright and clear, a stark contrast to the stormy day before. Sunlight streamed through the windows of Mal and Carlos's dorm room, chasing away the shadows of the previous night. The air was crisp and fresh, carrying the scent of blooming flowers and the promise of a new day.
Mal stirred in her sleep, her eyelids fluttering open as she adjusted to the morning light. She turned to find Carlos still fast asleep beside her, his face peaceful and relaxed. A soft smile touched her lips as she gazed at him, her heart overflowing with love.
She gently brushed a stray strand of hair from his forehead, careful not to wake him. They had stayed up late last night, talking about Kayla and the unsettling discovery in her room. It had been a difficult conversation, but they had faced it together, their bond strengthened by the shared experience.
A gentle knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. "Rise and shine, sleepyheads!" Evie's cheerful voice echoed through the room.
Mal smiled, glancing towards the door. "Come in," she called out.
Evie and Jay entered, their faces bright and cheerful. "We thought we'd drag you two out of bed," Evie said, grinning. "It's too beautiful a day to waste inside."
"We were just about to get up," Mal said, sitting up and stretching. "What's the plan?"
"We thought we'd go for a walk in the gardens," Jay said, leaning against the doorframe. "Enjoy the sunshine before classes start."
"Sounds perfect," Carlos mumbled, stretching and yawning. He sat up, his eyes still half-closed.
"Give us a few minutes to get ready," Mal said, smiling at her friends.
They left the dorm room, hand in hand, the sunlight warming their faces. The gardens were alive with color, the flowers in full bloom, their vibrant hues a stark contrast to the grey skies of the previous day. As they strolled along the winding paths, they talked and laughed, their voices blending with the gentle sounds of nature.

The gardens of Auradon Prep were a riot of color and fragrance, a stark contrast to the grey skies of the previous day. Sunlight dappled through the leaves of ancient trees, casting dancing shadows on the winding paths. Mal, Carlos, Evie, and Jay strolled leisurely, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and the warmth of the morning.
"It's so beautiful here," Evie sighed, inhaling the sweet scent of blooming roses. "I still can't believe we get to live in a place like this."
"It is pretty amazing," Jay agreed, kicking a small pebble down the path. "Especially after where we came from."
"Speaking of other places," Carlos began, a thoughtful expression on his face, "has anyone ever wondered what Wonderland is really like?"
Mal raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Wonderland? You mean, like, the place with the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts?"
"Exactly," Carlos said. "We've heard stories, seen the illustrations, but what's it actually like? Is it really all tea parties and talking rabbits?"
"I've always been curious," Evie admitted, her eyes sparkling with imagination. "Imagine the fabrics! And the colors! It must be a designer's dream."
Jay chuckled. "Probably a nightmare for anyone who likes things organized," he said. "From what I've heard, it's pretty chaotic."
Mal nodded, remembering snippets of stories she'd heard growing up on the Isle. "Yeah, I've heard it's… unpredictable. Magic is different there, wilder."
