The next morning, a nervous energy buzzed through Carlos. He couldn't shake off the weird feeling he had about the new girl, Kayla. As he got up, he was about to go to the bathroom to get ready.

Suddenly, a soft knock on his dorm room door startled him. He jumped up, his heart pounding. He peeked through the peephole but saw no one. He cautiously opened the door a crack, but the hallway was empty.

Confused, he closed the door and turned to go back to the bathroom when he noticed something unusual. The window, which he had left closed the night before, was slightly ajar. A chill ran down his spine.

He approached the window cautiously, scanning the room for any sign of intrusion. Then he spotted it: a small, delicate boot, the kind a woman would wear, lay abandoned on the floor beneath the window.

Carlos's breath hitched. Someone had been in his room. And it had to be Kayla.

He quickly scanned the room again, his gaze settling on his bed. A small, folded piece of paper lay nestled amongst the pillows. He picked it up, his heart pounding.

In elegant script, it read: "Found your window a little too tempting to resist. I hope you don't mind sharing your room tonight. 😉 - Kayla"

Carlos stared at the note, his mind reeling. Kayla had snuck into his room while he was gone. He felt a mixture of suspicion and worry. He didn't know what to make of her, but one thing was certain: this was going to be a weird day.

He glanced around the room again, searching for any other clues, any other trace of her presence. His gaze swept across the room, finally landing on the mirror hanging above his dresser.

And then he saw her.

Kayla stood behind him, a mischievous glint in her eyes. A single red rose was held delicately between her fingers. She watched him with an amused expression, her lips curved into a knowing smile.

Carlos whirled around, startled. "You!" he exclaimed, his voice a mixture of shock and disbelief.

Kayla chuckled a melodious sound that sent shivers down his spine. "Surprise," she purred, stepping closer. "I thought a more personal introduction might be more...memorable."

She tossed the rose onto his bed, the petals scattering like confetti. "Now," she said, her voice dropping to a sultry whisper, "let's see how you like having a guest."

Carlos was speechless. He stared at her, confused, completely caught off-guard by her audacity, her confidence, and the undeniable spark of danger that seemed to flicker in her eyes. This was going to be a weird day.

Carlos was speechless. He stared at her, confused, completely caught off-guard by her audacity, her confidence, and the undeniable spark of danger that seemed to flicker in her eyes. This was definitely going to be a weird day. He finally found his voice, though it came out a little strained. "Kayla," he began, "I have a girlfriend."

Kayla's smile faltered. "Oh." Her voice was deceptively calm, but Carlos could see the storm brewing in her eyes. "Well, that's... unfortunate."

She picked up the rose from his bed, her fingers brushing against his as she did so. "Perhaps you should have mentioned that before I barged in here, uninvited."

Carlos felt a bead of sweat trickle down his temple. "I... I didn't know you were coming," he stammered, feeling a surge of panic. "This was... unexpected."

Kayla's smile returned, but it was a cold, predatory smile. "Indeed," she purred, her eyes gleaming with a dangerous light. "But then again, I rarely do things the expected way, do I?"

Carlos felt a shiver crawl down his spine. He had a feeling this was just the beginning of a very long and very eventful day.

"And I trust your girlfriend," Kayla continued, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "is as captivating as she is... predictable?"

Carlos bristled. "Mal is none of your concern," he said, his voice hardening.

Kayla raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Oh, but I think she is," she purred. "After all, where's the fun in a predictable life?"

The door burst open and Mal stood in the doorway, her eyes blazing with fury. She marched across the room, her expression a mixture of anger and disbelief. Without a word, she pushed Kayla away from Carlos, her strength surprising them both.

"Stay away from him," Mal growled, her voice low and dangerous.

Kayla, momentarily stunned by Mal's unexpected intervention, glared at her. "You," she spat, "are even more interesting than I anticipated."

Mal stepped in front of Carlos, her body language radiating power and protectiveness. Her eyes narrowed into slits as she glared at Kayla, her voice low and dangerous. "Back off," she growled, "or you'll regret it. He's mine."

Kayla let out a low growl, her eyes narrowing. "This isn't over," she hissed, before turning and storming out of the room.

Mal turned to Carlos, her expression softening. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

Carlos nodded, still shaken by the encounter. "Yeah," he said, "I'm fine. Thanks, Mal. You were amazing." He pulled her into a hug, burying his face in her hair. "I don't know what I would do without you."

Mal smiled, returning the hug. "I'll always protect you, Carlos," she whispered, her voice filled with love and protectiveness.

She reached Carlos in an instant, gently pushing him back against the soft mattress. He landed with a soft thud, and a surprised chuckle escaped his lips.

"What was that for?" he asked, his eyes twinkling.

Mal leaned over him, her gaze intense. "For being so incredibly handsome and distracting," she whispered, her voice husky.

With a mischievous glint in her eyes, she raised a hand and a shimmering purple barrier descended, sealing the door shut. Carlos watched in amazement as the once-open doorway shimmered and vanished, replaced by a shimmering, impenetrable barrier.

"What... what was that?" he stammered, his eyes wide with wonder.

Mal leaned closer, her breath fanning his face. "A little privacy," she purred, her voice barely a whisper. "Just for us."

She leaned down and kissed him, a long, slow kiss that spoke volumes of her feelings. Carlos responded with equal fervor, his arms wrapping around her waist, pulling her closer.

The moonlight streamed through the window, casting a soft glow on Mal and Carlos as they lay side-by-side. A comfortable silence settled between them, the kind that comes with shared understanding and deep affection. Mal shifted slightly, snuggling closer to Carlos. He instinctively opened his arms, and she nestled into his side, her head resting comfortably on his chest.

They lay there for a long while, listening to the gentle rhythm of each other's breathing. Carlos gently stroked Mal's hair, his fingers tracing soft patterns on her arm. Mal sighed contentedly, her body relaxing against his. The world outside faded away, leaving only the quiet intimacy of their shared space.
