"Morning," he murmured, his voice still thick with sleep.

"Morning," she replied, her voice soft and husky. A small smile played on her lips as she met his gaze. "How are you feeling?"

"Sore," Carlos admitted, wincing slightly as he sat up. "But... better. Much better."

"What time is it?" he asked, stretching his arms above his head.

"Late," Mal replied, glancing at the clock on her bedside table. "We slept in. Which, honestly, we both needed."

"We should probably... get ready," Carlos said, breaking the silence. "We have classes, right?"

Mal nodded, a hint of reluctance in her eyes. "Yeah. But... we can take it easy. We deserve a break."

"Anything planned for today?" he asked, pulling his shirt over his head.

"Just classes," Mal replied, her voice slightly muffled as she adjusted the dress. "And maybe a walk later. I need some fresh air after... everything."

Carlos nodded in agreement. The dorm room, while spacious and comfortable, felt a little too enclosed after the intensity of their battle. He watched as Mal smoothed down her dress, the rich purple fabric clinging to her figure. She turned to him, a small smile playing on her lips.

"How do I look?" she asked, twirling slightly.

"Beautiful," Carlos replied, his voice sincere. "As always."

Mal blushed slightly, a rare occurrence that always made Carlos's heart skip a beat. She grabbed a leather jacket from her closet, the dark material a stark contrast to the vibrant purple of her dress.

"Ready?" she asked, slinging the jacket over her shoulder.

Carlos nodded, grabbing his own jacket from the back of a chair. "Ready."

Carlos carefully placed the newly crafted bracelet on Mal's wrist. The silver shimmered against her skin, the colorful beads catching the light, and the smooth stone pulsed with a gentle, inner warmth. As the magic settled, a faint emerald aura enveloped Mal, a subtle visual testament to the enhanced power and protection it provided.

Hand in hand, they walked to their first class. The hallways of Auradon Prep buzzed with the usual morning energy, but a subtle shift had occurred. Students who had once regarded them with suspicion now offered hesitant smiles, a newfound respect evident in their eyes. The events of the previous day, though shrouded in secrecy, had clearly left their mark.

"So, what happened over the weekend?" Evie asked, her voice dripping with excitement. "Did you two go on a romantic getaway? Or maybe you were busy saving the world again?"

Carlos and Mal exchanged a glance, their faces flushing slightly.

"We just went for a walk," Carlos said, his voice low and steady. "Got some fresh air, that's all."

"A walk?" Evie said. "In this weather? And you were gone all night?"

"We got caught up in a conversation," Mal said, her voice equally low. "Lost track of time."

By lunchtime, the quartet was back to their old dynamic, albeit with a newfound layer of respect and understanding. Evie peppered Mal with questions about the bracelet, her fingers tracing its intricate silverwork. "It's so beautiful, Mal! And you said it makes your magic feel... stronger?"

Mal nodded, a genuine smile gracing her lips. "Yeah. It's... hard to explain. It's like a steady current, always there. And it feels... protective." She glanced at Carlos, a silent thank you passing between them.

Jay, ever the pragmatist, clapped Carlos on the shoulder. "So, you've got god-like powers now? Can you, like, turn lead into gold? Or maybe make the cafeteria food actually taste good?"

Carlos laughed, a genuine, unrestrained sound. "It's not exactly like that, Jay. It's... different. I don't fully understand it myself yet."

After classes, they decided to ditch the library and head to the enchanted lake on the edge of the school grounds. The late afternoon sun dappled through the trees, casting long shadows across the water. They sat on the grassy bank, Evie sketching furiously in her notebook, inspired by the bracelet's design, while Jay skipped stones across the lake's surface.

Carlos and Mal sat a little apart, their hands finding each other naturally. The tension of the past few days had eased, replaced by a comfortable silence.

"It feels good, doesn't it?" Mal said softly, leaning her head on his shoulder. "To have things back to normal... almost."

"Yeah," Carlos agreed, squeezing her hand. "Almost. But... different in a good way, right?"

"Definitely," Mal confirmed. "We faced something huge, and we did it together. All of us, in a way."

Evie looked up from her sketching, a thoughtful expression on her face. "We were worried, you know. Really worried. When you two just disappeared..."

"We know," Carlos said sincerely. "And we're sorry. We should have told you something."

"But you couldn't," Jay finished, understanding dawning in his eyes. "Whatever it was, it was too big."
