Love Pt.5
The first rays of dawn peeked through the curtains of Mal's dorm room, painting the walls in a soft, golden light. The gentle chirping of birds outside her window signaled the start of a new day. Mal stirred in her sleep, a small smile gracing her lips as she snuggled closer to the warm presence beside her. Carlos, still fast asleep, had his arm draped protectively across her, their bodies intertwined beneath the soft blanket.
Mal's eyes fluttered open, and she gazed at Carlos's peaceful face. His usually energetic features were relaxed in sleep, making him look younger and even more endearing. She gently brushed a stray strand of hair from his forehead, careful not to wake him. The events of the previous day, the little drama with Kayla, seemed a distant memory now, overshadowed by the quiet contentment she found in Carlos's presence.
As she considered their relationship, a feeling of warmth spread through her. Despite the occasional challenges and distractions, their bond had only grown stronger over time. She was grateful for Carlos's unwavering support, his playful humor, and the genuine love they shared.
Finally, Carlos began to stir, his eyelids fluttering open. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the morning light, and then his gaze landed on Mal. A soft smile spread across his face. "Morning," he mumbled, his voice still thick with sleep.
"Morning," Mal replied, her voice filled with affection. She leaned in and kissed him softly. "Sleep well?"
Carlos stretched slightly, a small yawn escaping his lips. "Like a log," he said. He tightened his hold on Mal, pulling her closer. "Ready to face the day?"
Mal chuckled. "As long as I have you by my side," she said, "I can face anything."

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon wafted through Mal's dorm room, a welcome invitation to breakfast. Mal, now dressed and ready for the day, sat perched on Carlos's lap, facing him as he leaned against the headboard of her bed. A tray laden with plates of food rested on their knees, a cozy and intimate breakfast setup.
"Pancakes or waffles?" Mal asked, holding up two plates, each piled high with breakfast treats.
Carlos grinned, his eyes twinkling. "You know I'm a waffle guy," he said, reaching for the plate laden with golden-brown waffles, drizzled with syrup and topped with a dollop of whipped cream.
Mal chuckled and took the plate of pancakes for herself. They ate in comfortable silence for a few minutes, enjoying the delicious food and the quiet intimacy of the morning. Occasionally, they would steal bites from each other's plates, a playful and affectionate gesture.
"These pancakes are amazing," Mal murmured, savoring a mouthful. "Did you make them?"
Carlos shook his head. "Yeap," he admitted. "But I forgot some extra syrup," he added with a mischievous grin.
Mal laughed and playfully swatted his arm. "You and your syrup," she teased.
They continued to eat, their conversation flowing easily between lighthearted banter and more serious topics. They discussed their classes for the day, upcoming assignments, and plans for the weekend. Even mundane subjects seemed more interesting when shared in the quiet comfort of their breakfast nook.
As they finished their meal, Carlos reached for the coffee pot and refilled their mugs. "So," he said, leaning back against the headboard, "what's first on your agenda today?"
Mal thought for a moment. "I have a meeting with Fairy Godmother about the upcoming Cotillion," she replied. "It's getting closer, and there's still so much to plan."
