A chilling fear gripped Carlos as the images of his future children, tormented by Cruella and Maleficent amidst the ruins of Auradon, replayed in his mind. The prophecy, a horrifying potentiality, loomed large.
Mal, her heart pounding with dread, relived the vision of Carlos's death, her beloved boyfriend and destined husband. The desolate cries of their future children, orphaned by tragedy, echoed in her ears. A fierce determination ignited within her; she would defy fate and prevent this nightmare from ever materializing.
Evie's breath hitched as the scene of her eternal imprisonment flashed before her, a grim future of poisoned apples and decaying flesh. Tears welled up, a mix of terror and defiance. She refused to succumb to such a fate.
Jay's stomach churned as he recalled the desolate landscape of a destroyed Auradon. The prophecy, a looming threat, promised a future where innocent lives were shattered by his father's malevolence. He knew he had to act.
The four friends, shaken and pale, emerged from their shared nightmare, the weight of their visions pressing down on them.
"Everyone alright?" Carlos asked, his voice strained.
"We're here," Jay replied, his arm instinctively tightening around Evie.
"What did you all see?" Carlos pressed, needing to break the suffocating silence.
"A dungeon...poisoned...forever," Evie whispered, burying her face in Jay's shoulder.
"Auradon...gone," Jay stated, his jaw clenched.
"Carlos?" Mal's voice was a low tremor.
"Our future kids...Cruella and Maleficent...torture," Carlos said, his gaze meeting Mal's.
Mal's eyes flashed with emerald fury. "Those monsters! They'll pay!"
Carlos pulled her gently onto his lap. "Hey, it's not set in stone. We'll fight this, like we always do."
Mal leaned into him, her anger subsiding slightly. "Thanks, Snowball."
"And you?" Carlos asked, his voice soft. "What did you see?"
Mal cupped his face, her eyes filled with pain. "I saw you die. Us both. Auradon destroyed. And our children...they were crying for us."
Carlos wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "We won't let that happen, I promise."
They shared a deep, fervent kiss, a silent vow of love and defiance, a promise to rewrite their destiny.
The weight of their shared nightmares hung heavy in the air, a suffocating blanket of dread. Carlos, his arms still wrapped around Mal, felt a desperate need to act, to change the horrifying future they had glimpsed.
"We can't stay here," he said, his voice firm despite the tremor within him. "We need to go to Auradon. We need to warn them. We need to prepare."
Mal nodded, her eyes blazing with a newfound resolve. "You're right. We can't let them be caught unaware."
Evie, still clinging to Jay, straightened up, her usual sparkle replaced with a steely determination. "But how? We don't have a way to get there quickly."
Jay's gaze fell upon the ornate key, the one Mal had gotten from the Mad Hatter. It lay on the table, seemingly glowing with an ethereal light. "The key," he said, his voice low. "It brought us here. Maybe it can take us back."
Mal's eyes widened. "You think it can teleport us?"
"It's worth a try," Jay replied, grabbing the key. He held it aloft, the intricate carvings catching the light. "We need to focus. Think of Auradon. Picture the castle, the barrier, everything."
