The morning sun spilled into the room, casting a warm glow over everything, and the remnants of Mal's shimmering magic still hung in the air like a delicate veil. She stirred in bed, slowly bringing herself to wakefulness and blinking at the sight of Carlos, peacefully dozing beside her. A rush of warmth filled her as she watched him, his relaxed features softening the edges of a world filled with possibility.
Last night felt like a beautiful dream—A tender smile played on her lips as she reached out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind his ear.
As sunlight streamed in, the intricate dust patterns danced in the warm light, and the magic that had enveloped them started to dissolve. The familiar creak of the door echoed in the silence, reminding her of the reality outside this intimate cocoon.
Carlos stirred, stretching like a cat, a sleepy grin spreading across his face. "Morning," he murmured, his voice thick and charmingly rough. "What a night we had."
Mal felt her heart flutter at the memory. "It truly was remarkable," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper, laden with unspoken emotions.
He turned to face her fully, his gaze locking onto hers with an intensity that made her breath catch. "It was unbelievable."
With a playful glint, she teased, "Maybe I could show you an even better time."
He chuckled, a low, throaty sound that reverberated in the quiet morning. His smile widened, revealing a boyish charm that contrasted with the raw masculinity that surrounded him. "Round 2?" he asked, his voice thick with anticipation.
With a mischievous grin, Mal didn't hesitate. She slid onto his lap, straddling him as she felt the heat radiating from his body.
Mal and Carlos stepped out of their room and made their way to Evie and Jay's dorm. The hallway was quiet, the early morning sun casting long shadows through the windows. They arrived at a door adorned with a mix of fashion sketches and tournament posters, a testament to the contrasting personalities within. Mal knocked softly, and the door swung open to reveal a room that was a blend of organized chaos. Evie was at her desk, sketching designs, while Jay was practicing his tourney skills, his movements as fluid and precise as a seasoned warrior.
"Morning, you two," Evie said, glancing up with a warm smile. "Sleep well?" Jay grunted a greeting, his focus still on his movements.
"So," Mal began, "about the plan..."
"Right," Evie chimed in, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "We need to coordinate. I've already started working on some disguises. If we're going to get close to Cruella and Maleficent, we need to blend in."
Carlos nodded. "And I've been working on a few... gadgets," he said, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Nothing too flashy, but they should come in handy for gathering information."
Jay stepped forward, his expression serious. "I'll focus on surveillance. I can move around undetected, observe their movements, and report back."
Mal nodded, pleased with their progress. "Okay, that's a good start. But we also need to consider Uma. We need her help, but... it's complicated."
"Complicated is an understatement," Evie said with a sigh. "She's not exactly our biggest fan."
"But she hates Cruella and Maleficent just as much as we do," Carlos pointed out. "We need to appeal to that. We need to convince her that working with us is her best chance to take them down."
"I have an idea," Mal said, her eyes gleaming with determination. "I'll go talk to her. I'll explain the situation, lay out our plan, and try to persuade her to join us."
