Kai eventually slept after we chatted for God knows how long.
And we both were staring into each other's eyes in that low lamplight in my room.

"What now...? You said not to sleep...", she whispered.

"I just wanna make a moment I guess...", I whispered back.

We talked in whispers because we didn't wanna wake Kai up.

"Okay...", I sat down holding her hand and dragged her out of bed.

"What are you doing?"

"As I said, trying to make a moment", I grabbed my coat and slowly led her out of my room and to the rooftop.

She chuckled softly, "rooftop..?"

"Yeah"

I led to the rooftop.
The chill air hit our faces and she shivered.

I came behind her and tucked her in my coat, her back against my chest.

"Is this what you meant by 'making a moment'?", she asked as she looked from her shoulder, blushing.

"Maybe", I chuckled.

I slowly sat down on the floor, making her sit down with me.
She relaxed against me, sighing softly.

It was a crescent moon night, and the stars were scattered here and there.

My grip slightly tightened, tucking her even more against me and I kissed the top of her head.

"You are unbelievably soft", she mumbled, her eyes closed.

I chuckled, "Is that a problem?"

"Not at all...", she smiled, "I like it"

I turned on my phone and glanced at the time, 23.58, 2 minutes to go.

Her lingering sandalwood perfume filled my senses, and the crickets chirping were like a cherry on top.

It was peaceful, me, her our combined heartbeats...

I rested my head on her shoulder, and kissed it.

She shivered, "H-hey..."

"Sorry did you feel uncomfortable?"

"No, I was just caught off guard"

"Okay then...", I kissed her shoulder again.
I gently pulled away the fabric on her shoulder, pulling the sleeve of her t-shirt down.

I could feel her heart rate quicken against my chest.
When I tugged enough, I kissed her bare shoulder.

"A-Ami...", she held my other arm which was tucking her with the coat.

"Mm...?"

"It... tickles...", she said panting softly.

"Just a little...", my kisses went from her bare shoulder to the crook of her neck, I exhaled shakily against her neck and closed my eyes, just holding her.

My phone lit up showing it was 00.00, January 8, 2019.

"Happy birthday, Aadhvita", my hand went to her cheek turning her face towards me, and I kissed her.

I was holding the urge to deepen the kiss, I didn't want to scare her off.

I pulled away, my face flushed as I looked at her.

"Thank you", she said blushing.

I smiled, "You look cute when you are flustered"

She covered her face in the crook of my neck, pouting, "Yeah make me flustered and say that! Cheater..."

I pulled the fabric on her shoulder up and chuckled, "Hey... Not my fault, I was just kissing you"

"Hey...", she said suddenly and looked up at me.

"Yeah?"

"Can you promise me something?"

My grip subconsciously tightened around her, "What's it?"

"If things go south... Don't resent me."

I wanted to say, 'Dummy why would I do that?'
But I knew that time, that she didn't need any jokes or playful comments, she needed assurance.

"I promise", I said smiling.

She smiled and we both went back down.
