January 6, 2019.

I know it hasn't been that many days since I told myself that I should be satisfied with what I have but... What to do? Humans are greedy creatures.
I can't help but want more.

That hug had me craving for more hugs from her.

Arrghh! Amiya focus! Focus on what you are doing! You aren't a kid anymore! You are turning 19 tomorrow!
So... Provision for loss—

My phone rang, distracting me again.
I looked at my phone, Aadhvita.

I picked up, "Hello?"

"Hey! Did I disturb you?"

"No, no, sup?"

"Nothing important... The sun was setting and all... So I thought.. maybe we can go to that park..."

I blinked a few times, processing the information.
So this is basically sunset gazing right? No?

I shook my head, cutting my thoughts off.

"Yeah yeah sure, I am coming"

I needed a break too, so why not?

I got up from my table pulled on a jacket to keep me warm and started my stroll towards the park.

I was the first one to reach and sat on a bench, it was empty today due to the weather.

And the weather was cold enough to form steam across my mouth whenever I exhaled.

I always liked winter, it's my favourite season.
No reason in particular, I just loved it.

The coldness and the laziness that comes with it is too good.
Of course you have to fight that laziness and all but still it's one of the best seasons.

It's one of the festive seasons here.
In December, you get hear those excited squeals of children when they receive their gifts and the happy look on their parents' faces.

In January, even though everything goes back to normal I still feel giddy. I feel warm in winter and it's a little bit romantic if you ask me. It reminds of cuddles and all.

My thoughts were cut off when she came and sat down beside me.

"Hey..", she smiled.

"Hello", I grinned too.

She stared ahead at the sunset.

She never forgets her sandalwood perfume, does she?

The sun was going below the horizon, making the surroundings darker little by little.
Sometimes, staring at nature is all you need.
If it's with your crush, it's a bumper offer.

I exhaled softly, "Feels nice"

"Mhm.. I know...", she nodded.

She pulled out her phone, taking a picture of the sunset.

One, two. Two clicks.

"Well, how did it turn out?", I asked peeking at her phone.

She smiled, "Mhm... Very well"

She flipped the camera into selfie mode.
She scooted a wee bit more closer, closing the distance.

"Come on... Smile!"

I smiled, and she clicked the picture.

She held her phone in place like that and I was confused.

"Well...?", I asked looked at her.

She didn't say much, she just leaned in and pressed her lips against mine.

My eyes popped out, okay maybe not popped out.
My eyes widened slightly before I melted into the kiss, closing my eyes.

That's when I heard, Click. Click.

My cheeks burned up when I realised what she was doing.
Her lips were softer than I imagined, and the fact I was her first kiss made my heart beat even faster.

It was a peck, a soft gentle peck which felt ethereal for me at that time, she pulled back after two clicks.

I stared at her, still in shock.

Both of our faces were warm, she was grinning.

"Wha— what just—"

She rested her head on my shoulder, "Trust me, I wanna be with you too but I am way too scared about our future"

I calmed my nerves down because this was serious.

"Then.. you shouldn't have done that, dumbo", I said covering my face.

She looked at me, "I can't guarantee you the future, but I can guarantee you that I too like you, Amiya. A lot"

I exhaled shakily, "So are we..?"

"Yes. Because I know denying my feelings for you would only hurt me more"

She continued, her tone serious, "If we get hurt, then I would be happy that it at least happened. And it's better than regretting not accepting my feelings for you. It's better than regretting that I didn't get to spend time with you, hug you or kiss you, even it's for a short time"

Uncertainty.
A lot of it, but I wanted it.

I wanted her, I liked her because deep down, I had hope.

I nodded, "No expectations."

She nodded, "No expectations."

I took a deep breath, "But you like me right? You won't give up until and unless it's out of your hands, right?"

"Of course... I would never leave you intentionally by being paranoid"

I blushed and smiled and grinned... And my heart was going crazy, I was going crazy.

I chuckled, covering my mouth, "You are so clever... Right before my birthday huh?"

She grinned and I hugged her.

This girl is gonna be the death of me.

This was the best birthday gift I could have ever asked for.
