January 1, 2019.

Well, last night was a mess, definitely.
I was the one who woke up first and was in the kitchen preparing some ginger tea for both of them.

I was blushing to myself thinking about last night's events and for a moment, I forgot that I wasn't talking to her.

I heard footsteps approaching.
Soon, Kai rested her head against my back.
Not gonna lie, if it were the present me, I would have blushed a lot.

"Argh... Fuck...", she groaned.

"Well, Happy Birthday, Miss chaos", I wished, chuckling.

"Thank you...", she sighed, "Damn... My head is throbbing, Ami"

"That's what you call a hangover"

"Shit... It's hurting so much"

Aadhvita joined with Kai, groaning, "The hell... My head is..."

"Throbbing?", Kai completed her sentence.

I chuckled.

"Yeah", Aadhvita nodded.

"What are you doing anyways?", Kai asked, resting her chin on my shoulder.

"Aadhrak ka chai", I said exaggerating my enunciation.

"It cures hangovers?", Kai asked, inhaling the scent of the tea.

Aadhvita rested her chin on my other shoulder and I took a deep inhale pretending to smell the tea.

"Yeah it does, I hope. I searched it over internet and it said ginger tea is best for... hangovers"

"Ohh you care about us huh? Soo cuteee..", kai pinched my cheek.

"Ow.."

Aadhvita wished Kai, "Happy Birthday, Kai"

"Thank you!"

"So plans today, Kai? Wanna go out or stay home and chill?"

Kai hummed in thought, "Don't wanna do anything actually. Wanna spend it with you guys, just stay today and we will chill"

I chuckled, "So you"

"And whats that supposed to mean!?"

Aadhvita laughed enjoying the banter.

I didn't know if she remembers what she did last night or not, if she did... Wouldn't she be apologising now?

I mean I didn't need any apology to start with, but it would really be cool if she did remember it, I can tease her.

That day we three were together in our PJs, chilling, binge watching movies.

We were talking in between movies, about movies and some usual nonsensical things.

We didn't even cook food that day, we ate snacks and ordered some good food.

Kai liked her birthday minimalistic.
Just her close friends, no partying, and just chilling.
Even though the beer part was unexpected this time.

Soon, the time came for our departures, or me and Aadhvita's departure to be more precise.

"We enjoyed a lot, Kai, we always do with you", I said giving her a side hug.

Aadhvita hugged her other side, "Hoping the 19th year of your life would be as great as the rest of them"

Kai chuckled, holding both of us by our waists, "Yours too. They are coming anyways"

We said our byes and me and Aadhvita started walking.

The walk was silent, I desperately wanted to ask her about what she did last night but I held my tongue, I thought it would just ruin things.

"We will turn 19 too...", she said sighing.

"Growing up", I sighed with her.

We reached her place, Aadhvita unlocked the door, she went in.

"Well see y—"

I couldn't finish my sentence, she grabbed my wrist, yanked me in and wrapped her arms around my neck. Very tightly.

My face heated up, but I managed to calm down and wrapped my arms around her waist.

I sighed softly, inhaling her scent, it was favourite by now, the sandalwood perfume.

"I am so sorry...", she said in a timid voice, tightening ger grip around me.

She continued, "I am so dumb.. I shouldn't have said that. You... you must have been so hurt"

"Its—"

"It's not okay... I am sorry. I am really, really sorry"

I rubbed her back, "Okay.. okay.. it's okay. Don't worry"

I couldn't see her face but her heart was beating fast like mine and they beat in unison.

We stood there, in her doorway, holding each other in silence.

I didn't want to ask her again about anything else.
Like why her voice was shaking when she apologized or why her heart was hammering in her chest or why she was holding me so tight, so tight that it felt like if she lets go, I would be out of her sight.

I was savouring the moment, every inch of it, every second of it.

It was the first time we were that close, ignoring the drunk part.

She reluctantly withdrew the hug.

"And... I am sorry for acting like that, last night...", she said looking away in embarrassment.

I chuckled, "No problem, you were drunk anyway"

She nodded.

"Thank you... For accepting my apology., she said looking at me.

"Yeah it's fine...", I smiled.

I glanced at the clock, 19.30.

"I should go... See you soon yeah?"

She nodded, "Bye.."

I went out clicking her door close.

I put a hand on my chest.

Damn Amiya... Calm down... It was a just a hug.

I walked back home, blushing to myself.

I should be happy with what I have.
