November 18, 2024.
Present day.
At the reunion.
(Back to Amiya's POV)

My elbows were resting on the balustrade as I exhaled, looking straight ahead across the street.

I was processing all the explanations she gave me, and I can't help but feel overwhelmed and peace at the same time.

The music and chatters of the people was muffled behind us, and the fall air was hitting our bodies, there was a faint smell of leaves as we stood there in the balcony in silence.
And she didn't smell like sandalwood anymore.

She... She fought. And that's what made me happy.

"You... Tried...", I managed to breathe out after a few seconds of silence.

"I begged and grovelled... And cried... And sobbed... But nothing had an affect on my dad"

I sigh shakily and rub my face.

"Is it too much...?", she asked softly.

"No... No of course not. I am feeling kinda light now, I mean... It's my fault too, you left your life here..."

"No..", she shakes her head, "It's not anyone's fault... It just happened and... I couldn't prevent it"

"Don't blame yourself"

"You don't too"

I smile and nod, "Mhm..."

I look at her ring and finally ask her, "So you are... Engaged?"

She nods, "Yep... To the guy over there", she pointed at a guy wearing a  white polo shirt and a denim, he was looking like a gentleman.

"Ah.. I see"

"His name is Ivaan. Ivaan Sharma"

"So... You are gonna be a sharma"

She chuckles, "Yeah"

I chuckle too, "I prefer Aadhvita Sahani to Aadhvita Sharma"

"No other choice, soon-to-be Aadhvita Sharma"

"Are... You happy?", I asked looking at her.

She looks at me, "Yes. Yes I am", she smiles.

I smile, "Good to know..."

She nods, "Kai and you make a good pair"

I blush, "Thanks..."

She chuckles.

After a moment I spoke, "So... You are still not talking to your dad?"

"I am... But not that much"

"I recommend you to talk to him, he is your dad after all"

"I am still mad"

"I know you are and that madness will stay with you for a long time, but holding grudges against your own dad won't help"

"You are even more mature now, Ami", she says rolling her eyes.

I chuckle, "But no seriously... Forgive him for your own peace"

She nods and takes a deep breath, "Are you... Mad at me, Ami?"

I shake my head, "No of course not. I kind of guessed it back then but... Yeah it still hurt. But... I am okay now"

She smiles, "Kai healed you huh?"

"She did...", I smiled, "She always does"

"Well...", she rests her elbows on the balustrade copying me, "... We may never meet again"

I nod, "Yeah.. I know. I am even surprised that you came here"

"Well, requested him to say he had a meeting here and that's how I managed to come... Because well, I am his fiancé I can do anything with him"

I chuckle, "He must be head over heels for you to do something like that"

She looks behind and smiles, "Yeah... Yeah he is"

"Does he know? About me?"

"Yeah he does... That's why he agreed so swiftly to the request"

I smile, impressed, "That's.. that's one hell of a trust he has on you"

She chuckles, "Oh.. I know"

She continues, "We deserved a proper goodbye anyway"

I smile, "We did... And thank you for that. Thank you for everything you did for me"

She smiles, "Bye then, Amiya Hart"

"Bye... Aadhvita Sahani or should I say... Aadhvita Sharma"

She chuckles and walks to the door.
She was about to walk out but she turned around and said, "Don't leave Kai. Ever. She loves you a lot. I will kick your ass if you hurt her", she pauses and smiles, "And... I hope you two marry"

I blush at that, "T-thanks..."

She held the door, about to leave but turned around again, "Just so you know, Ami... Even if I know the ending, I would choose that 'Amiya' chapter of my life again and again cause that chapter is the favourite chapter of my life and it will remain my favourite until I die..."

I was about to say, 'I would too', but she walked away, into the party, towards Kai.

I turned around, looking into the streets.

Now that was a better goodbye...

I smiled and let out a contented sigh. All the weight of guilt I have been carrying all those years vanished.

She is happy, and that's all that matters.

I rub my neck, surprised that her words still had an affect on me.

I feel hands around my waist from behind, Kai.

"Is my Ami tired...?", she asked giggling, her breathe hitting my neck.

I chuckle, "Yeah I am"

"Shall we head home then?"

I turned towards her, "Yeah... Yeah I would love that"

"We can do Netflix and chill", she smirks.

"Are you sure it would be just Netflix and chill?"

"Oh you know me, I am a good girl"

I chuckle and we left the party, going back home.
