Chapter 5 - Hop along Cassidy

Hi guys just want to let you know i am starting to move between POVs! :) I havent really done it before so bare with me if i get confused or something! :) Anyway! Hope u enjoy! :)

Chapter 5 – Hop along Cassidy

*Autumn’s POV*

                                                     

I walk through the park keeping close to the guy called Glen’s side. My eyes scan around looking out for any sign of them. Luckily by now I know how they work, I know the packs movements and I know the strengths and weaknesses of most of them. But that doesn’t mean I can fight them, if anything that makes me even more scared because I know what they will do, I know what they will do went they find me and I know I won’t live to tell the tale, at least not in the past tense anyway. I wish they would play again, the three men I seem to be almost trusting. When they play I feel…good. I don’t really know how else to describe it, I have never really felt like it before. When they play I can let go, I somehow stop being scared, I don’t see everything as a threat, I stop thinking they would be like the others and trust them. But then I can never truly trust the tall one, the one who had saved me in the alleys. Danny, Daniel, Dan, my brother. For course this Danny is not my brother but he has the same name and looks similar in a way. It just scares me, makes me think of things I want to erase from my memory, things that will drive me insane…if they haven’t already that is.   

*Glen’s POV*

I keep one eye on Autumn the whole time, making sure she is safe. She looks very unique...I have never seen someone with hair like hers, the long tumbling loose ringlets, a strange mix of ginger and auburn. And those eyes, so green, so big, and yet so scared. That's where you see it most, in the eyes. They say a true smile is in the eyes, well this time it's true terror. You can see it dancing in the irises; fear. I don’t want to imagine what happened to her to cause this but I get the feeling I am about to find out. I don’t know where she is taking us but I know she is afraid and if I am honest, it’s catchy. I find myself jumping at the smallest sound, looking around me for any sign of trouble.

Suddenly I see something running full speed towards me, for a moment I panic. I glance at Autumn but she is smiling. She kneels down on the floor and extends her arms towards the thing. It collides with her almost knocking her over. Then I see what it is; a dog, a big shaggy dog with sandy coloured fur that I am sure shouldn’t be touched without several pairs of plastic gloves on. Also it seems to only have three legs, probably from living on the streets I guess. But is this really what Autumn brought us to see?

*Danny’s POV*

At first I am very cautious; I am hardly going to go up to a stray dog and start petting it am I? But Autumn is down on her knees, her arms wrapped around it as it licks her face affectionately. She beings to whisper to it, I think this is the first time I have seen her properly smile.

“Does she have a name?” Mark asks suddenly. Autumn looks up at us unsure for a moment.

“Her name is Cassidy.” Autumn says quietly before standing up. “Come on.” She whispers to the dog who begins to hop along beside her.

“Hop along Cassidy.” I mumble smiling at my own joke. I glance at Mark and he grins back sharing the joke.

“Hop along Cassidy? Really?” Glen says but the corners of his lips are twitching upwards.

“Oh get a sense of humour Glen!” Mark says and Glen smiles and walks off after Autumn shaking his head.

Autumn makes her way towards the children’s playground, Cassidy hopping along beside her.  Suddenly though she freezes, her head spinning around so fast I am surprise it doesn’t unscrew from her neck. Cassidy pushes herself against her legs whimpering slightly.

“Autumn?” Glen asks quietly. She begins to tremble as she turns to look at us, her eyes shining with pure terror.

“Hello sunshine.” A voice growls from behind me and suddenly there is a hand pulling my arm back and something cold against my neck. I try to turn to see what’s going on but the steal of a knife presses tighter on my throat. “Now what have we here boys? Little miss sunshine and she’s brought along some friends, isn’t that nice.” A tall dark-haired boy says as he strolls forward towards Autumn.

“Please Dan.” I hear her whisper.

“Please Dan.” He mimics. “Please Dan what? Please Dan this?” He asks before whipping out a knife and within seconds it at her throat. I begin struggling against the force holding me but the grip just gets tighter and I hear a rather insane sounding laugh from just behind me. “Now, sunshine, listen up, I want you to tell me where it is and I want you to tell me now. “ This Dan guy snarls. Autumn stays still, not speaking. “Joey! Get the tall one on his knees!” Dan calls and I hear the insane laugh again as I am pushed to my knees.

I am starting to panic now, they are going to kill me, and when they are done they will kill the others. I am going to die. A hand grabs my hair pulling my head up and the cold steal of the knife is pressed even tighter into my neck. “You have until I count to three to tell me or your little friend will be as cold as Scarlett.” Dan whispers to Autumn. For a moment I puzzle over his words, as cold as scarlet? That doesn’t make sense. But that is soon chased from my mind as Dan begins to count. “1…” He says and I look desperately at Autumn and see my terror reflected in her eyes. “2…” I close my eyes and hold my breath, bracing myself for what will surely come next. “3…”

DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!! Lol hope u liked this chapter! Just need to say If you dont understand the hop along Cassidy bit look up hopalong Cassidy in google! :) Lol and ummm there was something else i was gonna say! ...........Oh and if u dont get why they called her Little Miss Sunshine its cause sunshine is like summer and summer is a season like Autumn....yeh i know its not great but i couldnt think of what they could call her! :) And i explained why she dont trust danny! :) Oh and this chapter is dedicated to scripterxxxx cause...well she knows why! :) Lol i am gonna shut up now! :) Anyway thanks so much for reading!
