Feldcroft was home to Sebastian. It was where he'd grown up, where he'd found his first misadventures, where he'd felt the love and loss of family and friends. He liked it here. Despite the obvious weight and shadow hanging over the place, this was where he would always belong.

Except he wished it wasn't so muddy when it rained.

He walked up the familiar path to the graveyard, carrying a rag and a bucket of water. Sebastian knew all of the markers there would be covered in wet soil by now. It was looking like a day he'd have to spend clearing up Feldcroft's cemetery.

By the time he arrived, though, somebody was already there.

Allegra was standing next to Anne's grave, wearing her hair down in a familiar braid. She wore a cream-colored shirt and plaid brown skirts, most of which she held up in her hands to avoid the mud around her feet. A charmed rag was wiping down Anne's headstone. Another was wiping away the mud from the surrounding stones, occasionally Scourgifying itself in the process.

Sebastian huffed and sent his own rag going. The sound of it made Allegra turn. She gave him a hesitant smile, which he answered with a scowl.

It had been a week since their fight, since Ominis' return. Although they'd hesitantly made up, the tension was still thick among them, accentuated whenever they snapped at each other in Ominis' cottage.

"Good morning," she said softly.

"Yes, hello," Sebastian grumbled. He shoved his hands in his pockets, watching as Allegra slowly approached.

"Alright, I'm not going to drag it out," she said with a sigh. "I'm sorry, Sebastian. Really, I am. I was grieving and I wasn't thinking straight." Allegra kicked at the muddy earth beneath their feet. "I haven't been thinking straight. Not until now, anyway."

He sighed. "I know."

Allegra tilted her head, eyes wide and pleading. "I really am sorry."

Sebastian huffed and turned his gaze away. "It's not about the fact that you fought me about it, 'Legra. We fight all the time. I'm angry because you never told me, and you know I would have helped." He huffed and let himself smile. "Merlin knows I would've been willing to get into trouble."

"I know," she murmured. "I should have told you."

"You should've," he grumbled. Sebastian rubbed sheepishly at his neck. "But I suppose I owe you an apology, too. For looking through your things."

Allegra smiled. "You're lucky it wasn't my diary. I would've skinned you alive if you'd gotten your hands on that."

"You keep a diary?" Sebastian teased.

"Not anymore, now that I know you're a dreadful snoop."

They shared a laugh. Sebastian slung an arm around her shoulders, leading her toward Anne's grave. He watched with fondness as Allegra conjured a row of apple blossoms along her headstone. A wave of his wand brought brilliant green ribbons to rest just beneath them.

"I wish I'd gotten to know her better," Allegra murmured. "What was she like?"

Sebastian paused to think. "Kinder," he said softly. "Smarter. And a thousand times better at getting into—and out of—trouble." He gave Allegra an affectionate nudge. "You would have been good friends."

She smiled at him, resting a hand on his back. A thoughtful look crossed her eyes. "Maybe I could have helped her," she murmured, "if not for how foolishly I clung to my morals. Or the Keepers' morals. The line has really begun to blur."
