The sound of heavy footsteps echoed through the mansion's grand hall as Avi's men struggled to support Shakthi, who hung limply between them, his drunken state making him more of a noodle than a man.

Left'uh!

he slurred, waving his arm dramatically.

Ilala, right'uh!- Ilala, straight'ah ponga!

(No, no! Right-wait, straight, straight!)

His incoherent instructions only added to the confusion as the two bouncers exchanged exasperated looks.

Thambi, konjam correct'ah kaatu pa, yedhu un room'uh?

(Kid, can you just point where your room is?)

one of them asked, his patience visibly fraying.

Shakthi paused, squinting at them like they'd just asked him to solve quantum physics. Then, with an overdramatic flourish, he pointed in front and slurred,

Na, apdhiye straight'ah poninga'na-

( If you walk straight-)

Anga sevuru iruku bha

( We'd meet the wall)

the other man deadpanned.

Mithra frowned at the commotion outside her room. Pulling on her sleeping robe and tying it snugly, she stepped out. As she approached the banister, she glanced down to find Shakthi being carried by the bouncers, his arms draped lazily over their shoulders. Her frown deepened as she took in the unusual sight, trying to make sense of the scene below.

Shakthi?

Shakthi's eyes snapped up, and a drunken, weary, messy grin spread across his face. He looked like he'd been through a tornado. His hair stuck out in every direction, his crumpled shirt hung loosely with the top two buttons undone, revealing a glimpse of his undershirt. Despite his disheveled state, he grinned brightly and greeted her with unexpected cheerfulness.

Hi Mithra!!

What the hell happened to you?

Enaku onnu avala Mithra, na romba steady'ah dhan iruken. Paaru

( Oh, nothing happened to me Mithra, I'm really steady. See)

Shakthi dropped his hands from the bouncers' shoulders, attempting to show Mithra that he was perfectly fine. The effort was short-lived, as the moment his arms fell, his body nearly followed suit, flopping forward like a shirt slipping off a hanger. The bouncers quickly grabbed him before he hit the ground, and Mithra instinctively clasped her hands over her mouth, letting out a startled "yeep" as she watched him wobble precariously.

Ma, ivar room yenga irukunu konjam kaatringala?

(Ma'am, could you please guide us to his room?)
