Mithra had felt oddly restless the entire day. Something just felt off. She couldn't quite place why, but the absence of her usual responsibilities weighed on her. Not making sure everything was in order felt unsettling. Her mind had been occupied by this peculiar sense of displacement all day, and it lingered even as she arrived home.
As she stepped out of the car and approached the mansion's entrance, her eyes immediately caught sight of Ananya's scooter parked outside. She frowned. That was unexpected. Ananya usually didn't stick around this early. Before she could dwell on it, the main gate of the mansion opened again, and another familiar vehicle pulled in—Avi's car. Her frown deepened in surprise. He was back early?
She waited for him to step out, arms crossed. As soon as he did, she raised an eyebrow.
Ivlo seekiram vantae? Yenna nadhakudhu inga?
(You're home early. What's going on?)
Avi shrugged, running a hand through his hair.
Ananya dhan enna sikiram vara sona
(Ananya wanted me to come home early.)
Mithra's lips curled into a teasing smirk.
Oh? and you listened? Interesting.
Avi shot her a warning glare, but it lacked any real heat.
Avalae romba naal kalichi iniki dha en mogatha pathe pesuna, I couldn't just ignore it
(It's the first time she's properly talked to me after so long. I couldn't just ignore it.)
Mithra feigned an offended gasp.
Excuse me? Appo na avlo varshama sonnadhu? Oru thadava yachum ketrukiya?
(Excuse me? I've told you to come home on time a million times. But no, you never listen to me.)
Avi rolled his eyes and knocked her lightly on the head with his knuckles.
Modhala avan friendship'ah cut pannu, romba pesa arambichutae
( Cut his friendship first, you've started talking too much)
Ama ama
Mithra murmured as she circled her hands around his arm and dragged him inside. Avi let his sister drag him inside only to be surprised. The moment they stepped inside, Mithra came to a halt, eyes widening. The entire hall was adorned with balloons and decorations—everything perfectly aligned with her preferences. And then, from the center of the room, a caped figure dramatically stepped forward.
Shakthi, ever the theatrical one, had tied a pink sparkly bow and a cape, clearly taken from some curtain, around himself, striking an exaggerated butler-like pose. He bowed deeply before Mithra and gestured toward the interior.
My lady, we humbly invite you into this grand celebration, dedicated entirely to you! Only you!
Mithra blinked, utterly speechless. Avi, however, looked far from impressed. His eyes narrowed suspiciously at Shakthi.
Yenna panran ivan?
(What is he doing?)
Avi muttered under his breath.
Before Mithra could react, Shakthi flamboyantly clapped his hands.
Please, proceed upstairs, unakaga oru luxurious bath, naane prepare panni vechirken
