Jungkook pov
The ride to the company was steeped in silence, yet my mind was anything but quiet. The memory of Jimin’s angry face haunted me, his hurt and frustration clear as day. Ava’s actions had pushed him to his limits, and now his growing possessiveness was starting to show. A part of me found it endearing—his fierce need to claim me, to protect what we had. But another part of me worried. Ava's presence in my life was becoming a complication I couldn’t ignore.
“Jungkook,” Ava’s voice cut through the silence, tentative yet determined. “If you’re planning to pick Jimin up after this, does that mean you won’t come back to the company?”
I glanced at her briefly before turning my eyes back to the road. “Yes,” I replied simply, unsure of where this conversation was headed.
“Then I’ll take a half-day leave too,” she announced, her tone casual but layered with something else.
I frowned, confused. “Why? There’s no need for that.”
She hesitated before speaking, her voice dropping into a more vulnerable tone. “If you leave, I’ll be all alone... and I’m scared. What if that stalker comes for me again?”
Her words tugged at something inside me—was it guilt or doubt? Maybe both. I sighed, trying to reassure her. “I’ll stop by the police station to check on the case and make sure they’re doing everything they can. Don’t worry. I’ll also look for a safer place for you to stay once all of this is resolved.”
I glanced at her, offering a small, polite smile. She nodded, seeming satisfied, but an uneasy feeling crept into my chest. Something about this didn’t sit right with me.
When we arrived at the company, we stepped out of the car and immediately ran into Suga hyung. His sharp eyes met mine, his expression cold as usual. It was like a storm brewing in those dark irises. I could feel the judgment radiating off of him.
I sighed, bracing myself, and approached him. “Hyung, before you get mad, just hear me out, okay?” I blurted, desperate to soften the inevitable blow.
We made our way to the office floor, and as soon as we were alone, I spilled everything. Every detail about Ava’s situation, her stalker, and Jimin’s reaction. I left nothing out. When I finally finished, I looked at him, searching for some sort of reaction, but his expression remained unreadable—cool and calculating, as always.
“So, hyung, what do you think?” I asked hesitantly.
He leaned against the desk, folding his arms as his gaze bore into mine. “Have you even considered what kind of mess you’re in, Jungkook? You’re keeping the secret of your marriage from Jimin, and Ava knows about it. Have you thought about the fact that Ava could easily reveal the truth to him?”
His words hit me like a punch to the gut. I opened my mouth to argue, but he cut me off. “From what I know about Jimin, he won’t take that betrayal lightly. Hell, he might even go to his parents about it. You’re playing with fire, Jungkook-ah. If you’re not careful, you’ll lose Jimin entirely.”
I clenched my fists, his words digging deep. “So what do you suggest?”
“Send Ava somewhere else,” he said bluntly, his gaze unwavering. “She’s not as helpless as you think. Remember, she grew up in an orphanage. She knows how to handle herself. Don’t let her use her past to manipulate you into making reckless decisions.”
The weight of his words settled heavily on my shoulders. He was right. Ava wasn’t a defenseless child. I needed to stop treating her like one.
I nodded, grateful for his honesty, even if it stung. “I’ll handle it, hyung.”
