Chapter: Adjusting to a New Normal
Billie returned home from the hospital a few days later, her arm in a heavy cast and her leg encased in a brace. Every movement was a challenge. Even simple tasks like getting out of bed or brushing her teeth required assistance. Her frustration grew with every failed attempt to regain some independence.
Her family tried their best to accommodate her needs, but Billie couldn’t help feeling like a burden. Each day felt slower and heavier than the last, and she withdrew further into herself.

Odessa’s Plan
Odessa, sensing Billie’s sadness, arrived one afternoon with a determined look. She signed, Get ready. We’re going out.
Billie blinked at her, confused. Where? she signed back.
It’s a surprise, Odessa replied, a playful smile on her lips.
With some help from Odessa and Finneas, Billie got dressed and into her wheelchair. Odessa made sure to pack a few fidget toys and Billie’s ear defenders, just in case.

The Date
Odessa took Billie to a quiet botanical garden she had found, a place filled with vibrant flowers, gentle pathways, and calming fountains. The air smelled of lavender and roses, and the sound of trickling water provided a soothing backdrop.
As they wandered through the garden, Odessa pointed out different plants, signing their names to Billie. She picked a small bouquet of wildflowers for her, tucking a daisy behind Billie’s ear. Billie smiled faintly, her fingers tracing the petals of the bouquet.
When they found a bench beneath a sprawling oak tree, Odessa unpacked a picnic she had prepared. Billie’s favorite snacks were neatly arranged, and Odessa even brought a thermos of Billie’s preferred tea.
As they ate, Odessa signed, I know things have been hard, but I want you to know I’m here for you. Always.
Billie’s eyes filled with tears, and she signed back, Thank you. You make it easier.

Back at Home
When they returned to Billie’s house, Odessa helped her up to her room. The moment they were alone, Billie pulled Odessa closer, her hands trembling slightly. Odessa kissed her softly, and the tension melted away from Billie’s body.
The kisses grew more passionate, and Billie’s stimming began—her hands fluttered, her fingers tapped rapidly against Odessa’s shoulder, and her body swayed slightly. Odessa smiled against Billie’s lips, encouraging her to feel safe and free.
After some time, Odessa gently pulled away, signing, Let’s get you comfortable now.

A Calming Bath
Odessa led Billie to the bathroom and began preparing a warm bath. She added a generous amount of bubbles and lit a few scented candles. While the tub filled, Odessa carefully wrapped Billie’s arm and leg casts in plastic bags to keep them dry.
Billie watched Odessa with a soft smile, her stims increasing with joy—her fingers wiggled, her head swayed side to side, and she let out soft, repetitive vocal sounds.
Once everything was ready, Odessa helped Billie into the tub, ensuring she was comfortable and safe. The warm water and the calming ambiance helped Billie relax for the first time in weeks.
As Odessa sat beside the tub, holding Billie’s hand, Billie signed, You’re the best thing in my life.
Odessa smiled, brushing a strand of hair from Billie’s face. And you’re mine, she signed back.
For the first time in a long while, Billie felt at peace.
Just a short one guys I need more ideas on where to go.
