"Don't talk to her like if you know her." I snapped because I don't like when people talk to her like that. I'm very protective over her. She's like my other sister. Anyways Cherry had slapped me. Two-bit and Johnny had held me back. They failed. Cherry was laughing but I went up to her and punched her in the eye. It was getting black and swollen. "If you ever lay a finger on anyone in my gang your gonna be sorry." I pushed her and she fell. Everyone was looking at us but I didn't care. "Let go guys." Johnny said.
When we got to the car everyone got in. Dally, Ariana and I in the front and Two-bit, Johnny, and Pony in the back. "What took you guys so long?" Dally asked us. "Edith was about to fight again. But she asked for it. The Soc slapped her first." Ariana said with a smile. "That's my girl." Dally said laughing. The rest of the ride was Two-bit messing with Ponyboy and Two-bit cracking jokes like always.
When we arrived to the house I saw that Soda and Steve were back from work. They were sitting down on the couch. Darry doesn't come back until 5 and it's barely 2. I went to go sit next to Soda. "Hey Soda when do we leave?" I asked. "In 20 minutes." he said. I nodded and just rested. "Okay let's go." "What 20 minutes hasn't past?" "Yeah it has. You were staring off into space." Soda said. "Oh okay then. Two-bit I'm going with Soda." I told Two-bit. "Got your switch blade?" he asked "Yeah" "Soda take care of my sister!" Two-bit told him and Soda nodded in agreement and we left.
We were walking until a blue Mustang was trailing us. I knew who car was it, Randy's. "stay close to me." Soda said as he put an arm around me for they won't get near me. People know not to mess with Soda, not because of me because they will get killed by the gang if they do. But if the gang doesn't do anything then that's when I step up and do something. I honestly don't like when people hurt the gang but I mostly don't like If they hurt Ariana and Soda. Anyways back to walking. Well Randy and his other idiots left us alone. I honestly thought that they were gonna stop and give me a piece of their mind and jump me but they didn't. We got to The Dingo, Soda took his arm off of me. We see a blonde girl with curly hair, with China blue eyes. She had a little bit of make up but she was pretty. "Hey Sandy." "Hey Soda and Hey." Sandy said. "Hey" I said. "Sandy this is my best friend. She been wanting to meet you ever since we started to date." he said and she smiled. "Gee Soda you didn't have to say that." I told him. He laughed. "Oh how cute. She so pretty." I smiled cause I didn't know what else to say. "Lets go order." Soda and I got a cheeseburger, fries and a Pepsi. Sandy said she wasn't hungry but Soda made her get something. She got a salad and water. "So what's your name?" "Edith. Edith Mathews." "Oh so your Two-bit's sister." "Yeah"
When we finished eating and it was time to go. Soda and Sandy kissed and hugged and I got a head start on walking. "Hey Edith wait up!" I waited. I had lot of things on my mind. Soda noticed something was wrong. "What's wrong?" "Nothing I'm fine." "It's about Johnny huh." how did he know. "Yeah. It's just that he says he doesn't want a soc near me. Oh he will kill him. He is always staring at me. He would kill someone if they hurt me. He is also protective. I don't know anymore Soda. I never felt this way for anyone." "Hey don't worry he will come around. And if he doesn't then he doesnt know what he is missing out on. Your smart, beautiful and tough. Any guy would want you. Don't worry. I don't want you to cry or anything." "Well Soda when we get home can I lay in your bed and just stare at the ceiling." "Sure thing princess." he smiled. I got tired so Soda gave me a piggy back ride thank goodness no socs came by.
When we arrived to the house everyone was talking about Thanksgiving. I laughed and said 'Hi' to Ariana and went to Soda's and Pony's room. Pony was in there. "Hey Edith can I tell you something." "Yeah." "Well I like Ariana and I want to date her but I don't think Dally will let me. He is protective over her. I want to tell her but also I don't want Dally to know. I wonder if you could help me tell her tomorrow after school. Since you can't go to school." "Yeah I will help you. And I know I hate missing school because it's fun to be there. I don't like learning but I still do it anyways. Just tell me if any soc messes with you, Ariana, Two-bit, or Johnny." "Okay then. Thanks Edith I can count on you. You look exhausted you should sleep." "Your welcome and when you get down and they ask where am I tell them I'm sleeping." "Okay. Bye Edith." he said hugging me. "Bye Pony." he left and I just stared into space. I eventually started to cry cause I was thinking about Johnny. I know I may seem desperate but once you really like someone you can't get over them. I eventually fell asleep.
I woke up to someone shaking me. It was Two-bit. "Come on little sister we're going home." "Why?" "Because it's 8pm." "Oh okay." I went down stairs and eyes were on me. "What are you staring at?" "You sleep cute. We all saw you sleep. It's cute." Steve said. "You guys saw me sleep? You guys are creeps." "We didn't know where you were so we looked for you and we found you in Soda's room asleep. You sleep with that beautiful smile of yours." Johnny said as Soda looked at him. "Still you guys are creeps. Who looks at people when they are asleep?" "Us." Dally said laughing. "Let's go home and Soda can I help out in the cashier tomorrow since I don't have school." "Yeah" he replied. "Edith we need to talk about that tomorrow when I come home from work understood." Darry said. "Yes sir!" I said as he smiled and we said our goodbyes and left home. Two-bit gave me a beer. We were drinking and then we passed out.
