42. The Four

The first match was a student from Baekho and the boy who attacked the unaffiliated students, Dale. They both specialized in close-combat.
(A/N: I can't find Dale's opponent's name anywhere 😭 I'm just going to refer to him as 'he' and Dale as 'Dale')

Beep

Beep

Beep

Bang!

Korea's student made the first blow.

"Ha!" Dale smirked. He blocked the punch with his bare body, without even the help of his awakened power.

His eyes widened, realizing it didn't even leave a scratch. Clenching his teeth and fist, he used his other arm to punch.

But it was futile, Dale's defense didn't budge.

"I thought Baekho were fighters, but you're not putting much of a fight. More like a fraud!" Dale grinned. "Let me show you what a true fighter is like."

He dashed backwards, unknown to what Dale would do next.

Dale's power flowed through his body.

"His body changed!"

Dale's muscles became more refined, and larger. "Come at me again." He taunted, confident in his ability.

He clenched his jaw, mustering every last strength he had into this attack.

Pow!

"Nice!" The bystanders thought.

He flinched.

"As expected," Dale was still smiling, "you can't do anything to me."

The crowd died down, realizing his attack didn't actually work.

Dale clenched his fist. "It's my turn now."

POW!

Crash!

He was sent straight to the wall, unconscious, knocked out.

"Hmph." Dale went back to his team. "That was too easy. Wasn't even worth calling a warm-up." He shrugged.

He laid there, blood flowing down his head and nose.

"..." Gangseok watched silently.

"Dale Vigarun wins!" Inhyuk announced.

"Well, what did you expect from a countryside's awakeners?" Andrea grinned.

"I don't want to lose to those guys after what they've done at our academy." He faced Gangseok, determined to bring glory.

"Do what you want." Gangseok smiled.

He flinched, "what..?"

"I'll convince Baekho and the teachers to let this matter go later."

Gangseok clenched his jaw. "Then you can fight me, your warm-up." Gangseok walked onto the stage, presenting himself.

"Choi Gangseok!" Professor Suhan tried stopping him.

"Forgive me, professor, but I can't stand still after how they've humiliated Baekho." Gangseok's face darkened, he was serious about this.
