HARDEST THING TO DO

"No" I looked up from the invitation letter.
"Why?" Jake furrowed his eyebrows.
"Because I can't, I'm too busy this week" I sighed.
"No problem" he took the card from my hands.
"It's next week" he pointed at a sentence on the note.
I squeezed my eyes to read.

On September 27th 2024
 
"You-
"And you can't say no to this, remember you owe me." He tilted his head.
"I can pay you back " I tried to convince him.
"I don't want money " he said.
"I can buy you lunch " I tried again.
"No thanks, I can buy my own " he grinned.
"I have nothing to wear "
"That's why we'll go shopping later" he said with the same smile.
How bad I want to punch that gorgeous smile away.
"Um... what about my hair and makeup?"
"Are you really asking me that?" He quirked a brow with a smirk.
"What you're going to send your slutty maids to do my makeup? Do you want me to look like a fool!"
He shook his head ."No I'll send my makeup artist to prepare you, any other problem?"
"No "I mumbled before sipping my coffee.
"Good" his phone buzzed.
I looked at him.
"I got to go, see you later"
He put his phone in his pocket before calling the waitress.
He handed her a random amount of cash as she wide eye balled the money in her hands.
"Keep the change" he walked towards the door and waved at me before leaving.
I slowly waved before facing my coffee.
What just happened? How did I get myself into this?

"Emily dear!"
"Coming!" I ran out from the back.
"Yes, Mrs Robbins."
"Could you please help me attend to that customer."
"Okay " I walked over to the table.
"Hello, welcome to Hobby's Breakfast & Books, how may I help you?"
"Yeah I will like a- Emily?"
I looked away from my notepad and saw a familiar face.
"Williams "I spoke with surprise and disbelief mixed in my voice.
"What are you doing here, darling?" He crossed his legs and leaned forward.
"I work here" I pressed my lips and looked at him as if he was stupid.
I mean can you not see the apron and notepad on me or are you not just color blind but everything blind.
"Where your boyfriend" he lazily looked around .
"My boyfriend?!"I looked at him confused.
"Yeah, isn't he here to punch the life out of me."
"He's not my boyfriend" I said realizing who he was talking about.
"Really?, well that just made my work much easier" he smiled.
"Easier for what?" I asked him clueless.
"For me to-
"Emily dear, is everything okay? Mrs Robbins called from the counter.
"Yes ma'am, everything is fine!" I yelled.
"Make your order quick, I have to go"
"A chocolate latte with a William Shakespeare novel."
"You like those stuff" I looked at him.
"Who doesn't?" He spoke seductively.
I rolled my eyes and walked away.
I entered the kitchen and started making his drink.
"You were taking time." Mrs Robbins spoke behind me.
"He was wasting time to make an order"
And tried to make a conversation with you " she concluded.
I turned to her "apparently. "
"How did it go, were you smitten?" she wiggled her eyebrows.
"What are you trying to imply" I looked at her weirded out.
"Seems you guys were enjoying yourselves." She smiled.
I blinked.
"Wait do you think I like him?"
Her smile widened.
"No no no , you got it all wrong. I don't like him, I've just seen him before."
"I could totally see the love in his eyes." She said totally ignoring what I said just now.
"I think it was out of amusement"
"No, I know he is in love and so will you."
I frowned. "You really think I like him."
"I know you like him no you love him ?"
"I don't!" I said frustrated.
"Okay pretender whatever you say, whatever. you. say" she said before leaving the kitchen.

"Bye Mrs Robbins, have a nice night" I hugged her.
"Good night deary "she kissed my cheek.
"Thank you for today, may the lord God be with you " she smiled.
I smiled too "amen, you too"
I watched her enter the taxi I called for her and closed the door.
"Drop her off at advels streets, and take care of her for me, okay. Thank you." I told the driver before paying him.
He nodded and drove away as I waved them goodbye.
I walked towards a nearby bus stop and waited for a bus to arrive.
In less than a minute I entered one, paid and took a sit.
After 20 minutes, I stopped at my house and entered the empty building.
I took a quick shower, did my skincare and went to bed.

HAPPY DECEMBER!!!!
The month of CHRISTMAS ⛄🎄⛄
School closed like 2 days ago and I used the weekend to sleep and prepare myself for the winter arc.
It's my first time doing this and hearing about it. I actually started the beginning of this month but because of school It was not consistent but now I'm on holiday so I will take it more seriously.
Comment below 'if your doing your winter arc too' and 'what are your goals ' as I will show you guys mind in the next chapter or comments.
So happy to write to you guys again ohhhh and prepare yourself because from here is where all the juicy parts of the book starts.
Again I am so happy and in spirit for these remain days of 2024 . Let's give it our all yeah?
