The car ride back home to the apartment was empty. Jungwon didn't seem to notice, he was just relieved that Jiyeon simply had gone outside and told the police where to go once they had arrived and not disappeared more than what was good.
The awkward and tense air was only noticed by Jiyeon as Jungwon was far too busy noting down things on his phone in a text to himself. No one else had been found at the warehouse by the police, which meant the man was still roaming about somewhere, but the woman had been taken to the hospital and that was about as much information as there was to the case at that point.
"I was thinking we could just go buy some dinner in the convenience store on the corner. It's still fairly early," Jungwon remarked and Jiyeon only hummed quietly. He glanced up, "I get that the appetite goes away after such a sight, but I can assure you... you need food right now."
"I know," she murmured and kept her eyes focused on what was passing by outside.
By the apartment, she didn't even wait for him to get out of the police car either. She immediately got out and ran straight inside and up the stairs, straight past a widely smiling Mrs Mae, who just stared at Jungwon by the time he entered.
"I baked cake..." Mrs Mae reminded and Jungwon nodded, keeping his eyes focused on the top of the stairs as he shrugged off his coat and hung it down in the hallway.
"She saw a lot of blood today," Jungwon excused and Mrs Mae only frowned, having a feeling that was not the reason behind Jiyeon's quick escape, "I'll go talk to her before I go down and buy us some quick dinners."
Jungwon fought his way up the stairs and casually wandered into the apartment, finding it empty as he wandered through it.
"Jiyeon?" he called out eventually opening the door to her room. It was almost like a deja vu finding her just sitting and staring at the wall, "Look... I assumed that since you saw the body without legs you'd be fine with seeing such little blood today, but I see-"
"You just assume, don't you?" she questioned and he hummed and looked up at her once again, "you just assume it's the blood, because you really are that incapable of reading feelings."
"Isn't it the blood?" he questioned and she turned her head to look at him with a look that seemed to ask if he really was okay and if he was completely serious, "it isn't."
"No, it isn't," she shook her head sternly, "did you not hear me? Did you not hear what I said to you?"
"Oh... that," he slowly realised as she got up from her bed.
"Yeah, that," she hummed with a nod, "I think that you, Yang Jungwon, are in fact the biggest, egotistical and vile human being I have ever had the inconvenience of meeting."
"Will you let me ex-" he started immediately getting cut off.
"And you've let me live here for a week without telling me?" she continued.
"Now, how would you have reacted if I just told you straight forward?" Jungwon sighed.
"Oh, so you can actually consider my feelings just a little bit?" she questioned, "where was that consideration when I... oh, I don't know? Had to go through weeks and months of retraining?" she yelled loudly, "why did you leave? Are you really that shallow? Did you really just need to have fun besides the fun you got from your little murder case?"
"That's not-"
"Why else did you just leave like I was some stupid one-night stand?" she questioned sharply, "do you have any idea how much that hurt?"
"You couldn't even remember me when I talked with you in the hospital!" Jungwon retorted, finally tired of getting cut off.
"You didn't even hear what I said in that fucking warehouse, did you?" Jiyeon yelled, "I knew someone was missing. I knew someone important to me was missing and no one in that stupid little town would tell me who! I felt like I was going insane for a year!"
