Jiyeon couldn't quite wrap her head around how she and Jungwon could simply walk into the prison and immediately get led down to a cell. No pat-downs, no metal-detectors they had to walk through or anything, they were merely let down a hallway with cells all the way down. Heavy metal doors shield the prisoners from one another. The guard who had shown the way for them even wandered off after having unlocked the cell door.
"I suggest you turn your recorder off. You'd want her to like you," Jungwon calmly remarked and glanced over at Jiyeon. His hands still deep down in his coat pockets.
"What?" Jiyeon questioned and turned her head to look up at him.
"She doesn't deserve anyone invading her space. This once, you turn it off," Jungwon excused and so Jiyeon did. Casually grabbing the recorder in her coat pocket and turning off the recording she had discreetly started the moment they stood out in front of the prison, "alright... then let's go."
Jungwon carefully pushed the door open and poked his head in first. The cell's only inhabitant had already moved up to sit on her bed as she quietly watched him enter and pull the chair from the desk in the room.
"Who's she?" the girl immediately questioned as Jungwon pointed for Jiyeon to sit down in the chair while he stood still in the middle of the floor, "you always come here with Sunoo. Where's Sunoo?"
"We don't work together anymore," Jungwon excused calmly, "nonetheless... I hope you'll still talk to me. That is Jiyeon, new recruit I suppose."
"She has a recorder," the girl murmured and turned her head to look up at Jungwon, quickly pulling her knees up to her chest and letting her arms circle them loosely.
"She does, and it's turned off. Isn't it, Jiyeon?"
"Completely turned off," Jiyeon hummed and pulled out the recorder and threw it on the bed, showing how no lights were lit on it.
The girl stared at Jiyeon for a while before reaching out and grabbing the recorder, opening the back and snatching one of the batteries. Holding it in her palm before starting to fiddle it back and forth between her fingers, almost like something about the situation was making her anxious.
"I have a few questions, Lin," Jungwon sighed and she hummed quietly, continuing to follow the battery with her eyes as she twirled it back and forth, "your previous cellmate-"
"She didn't like me," Lin murmured from where she sat on the bed, "said I was too quiet. It made her nervous. She thought I'd strangle her in her sleep. Told the guard so when they picked her up for release."
"Well, she won't have to worry about that anymore," Jungwon remarked and Lin hummed quietly, "she's been murdered."
"I didn't do it," Lin whispered.
"I know," Jungwon nodded, "she was found along the Han River. She did have two legs while in here, didn't she?"
"Yeah... used them a lot," Lin nodded and looked up at Jungwon, "did she lose them?"
"And she hid them mighty well," Jungwon nodded and Lin snickered slightly at his small joke, "what'd she do? Do you remember?"
"Petty theft I think," Lin shrugged calmly as Jungwon sat down on the edge of her bed, "I don't remember if it was her or the one before her who had sold some drugs to minors."
"Hm," Jungwon hummed thoughtfully, "what do you remember about her?"
"She had some group... uhm..." Lin frowned slightly, seeming far more lively after the small smile Jungwon had brought out on her face, "yeah. A group. They ditched her and then she got arrested... she was the one for petty theft," Lin nodded finally, now that she could remember which cell mate Jungwon was talking about, "she lost both her legs? That's horrible!"
