{I know the picture isn't exactly a summer league one but.. welp-}
If there was one word to describe how Kelly Oubre Jr. and his girlfriend Jasmine were feeling was... frustrated.
Every since getting drafted, it was the same schedule every day: eat, sleep, practice, repeat. With Kelly being so busy with practice, Jasmine began to feel ignored and as he never really had time for her anymore. All she wanted was to spend time with her boyfriend but it was almost impossible to.
He tried to explain to her that he had to do what he had to, since his career was just starting off and he wanted to do big things in the NBA. She supported him in everything he did, yes but she still needed attention to. She's his girlfriend, and the one who has been supportive of him for the absolute longest time.
Kelly noticed the change in Jasmine's mood over time and wanted to know what's up. Since he was completely blind to realize that him ignoring her was the reason she was acting differently towards him. While trying to speak to her, all he was got the silent treatment. Was he really that clueless in not noticing?
Knowing he had no chance after countless attempts to get her to talk, he gave up. Scrolling through some comments on his Instagram page, a few seemed to have caught his eye.
"How come neither you or Jasmine have posted a picture of you two?"
"You two have been seriously M.I.A about each other."
"Does Kelly even pay any attention to Jasmine anymore?"
Now he realized what the problem was, he's been so oblivious to how his own girlfriend was feeling. He felt absolutely terrible and as if he was a terrible boyfriend. Luckily, the Summer League was now over so he had come up with an idea. The next day, Kelly basically begged Jasmine to go somewhere with him.
Jasmine on the other hand believed that she was going to a Summer League game, she figured it was least a start in him spending time with her again. She was wrong about going to a basketball game. Instead, Kelly surprised her by taking her to eat at her favorite restaurant.
"What's the occasion?" Jasmine asked, as the two ate. She was clearly confused that all of a sudden he changed but she had to admit that she really did miss spending time like this with him.
"I realized that I was being so oblivious towards you. I know that I ignored you and didn't spend much time with you during the Summer League. But, thankfully now it's over with and I absolutely promise you that I'll spend more time with you, babe." He explained.
She smiled, "Well, it's gonna take more than just lunch at my favorite restaurant," She playfully said.
"Oh, we're not done with today yet. Today is gonna be just about you and I. I'll take you anywhere you want." He smiled.
"Well, look at you stepping up." She smiled back, before leaning over to kiss him on the cheek, "Thank you by the way."
Kelly for sure kept his promise. That day, it was absolutely fun for her. A few fans did approach Kelly, but he kindly told them he didn't wanna be bothered while he was with his girlfriend. They respected his decision since he never really asked for much from them. From that day on he would take Jasmine somewhere special every day. It ranged from the mall to going all the way back to Houston so the two could have a vacation.
It was nothing but pure bliss for the couple after the promise was made..
