"C'mon please?" Jariah begged her best friend, D'Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers for what seemed to be billionth time.
"But Jariah." D'Angelo said, mocking the tone of her voice. He loved his best friend but he wasn't all for what she wanted to do today.
Jariah wanted to do what she liked to call, The Best Friend tag on her YouTube channel. She was currently one of the biggest YouTube stars and she loved making videos for her viewers. But for this video she felt as if she needed to do this tag video with D'Angelo.
"Please?" She said, once more except this time she used the puppy dog eyes on him. She knew she had him this time because D'Angelo couldn't resist when she used the eyes on him.
"Alright, fine!" He said, giving into her ways and earning a smile from her. And just like that, Jariah had set up everything needed to make her video.
"Hey guys! It's Jariah, and for the video I will be doing the best friend tag... and joining me today is my best friend... D'Angelo Russell!" She spoke to her camera and pulled D'Angelo close to her so he could be seen. He didn't exactly know what to do so he just waved and said a simple "Hey guys."
"Wow, you're boring," She playfully said before they began their tag. "Okay, first question... What is your best friend's favorite color? Easy, red."
"And yours is... also red." He answered, and she smiled.
"Next question... What's your best friend's hobby? Okay, this is way too easy, your hobby is basketball," She said, feeling as if this was too easy since the two knew each other like the palm of their hands.
"And you," He started, pointing a finger at her, "...enjoy making YouTube videos and sometimes try to play basketball against me... but of course y'know D'Loading always wins a one on one against you," He playfully added.
"Alright," She said, laughing at his playful self before she continued with the question, "Who is your best friend currently crushing on? Uhm... Rocsi Diaz?" She guessed, only to have D'Angelo shake his head.
"Nope, it's you actually." He answered honestly before he realized what he said and he put a hand over his mouth. Jariah looked at him in disbelief and paused her camera to stop recording.
"D.... are you serious?" She asked, looking at him and thinking she must've heard wrong. She couldn't really see him liking her. She felt as if there were prettier girls out there willing to do anything in order to even sit next to him.
"Well, I mean my big mouth just blurted something I've been trying to keep a secret for years... but yes Jariah, I am completely serious about crushing on you. I've actually been crushing on you since we were kids, y'know. Ever since meeting you at that neighborhood party when we were 9, I just have liked you since then," D'Angelo said, feeling relieved that he could finally get that off his chest.
"D, why didn't you tell me before? If you told me, I wouldn't of tried to date other guys. Only reason I started dating again was to get you off my mind. I've liked you for the longest time also..." She mumbled, looking down at her bracelet and began to play with it; something she did when nervous.
"Guess we both kept it a secret for a long time, huh? Well, I don't know if you'd be up for this, but... Jariah since I basically just confessed that I like you and you like me... would you like to be my girlfriend?" He asked, both feeling hopeful and scared of what she was going to answer with.
Instead of answering, she just hugged him tightly and placed a kiss on his cheek. "I'd be stupid to say no," She finally answered, smiling up at her boyfriend. It'd take some time to get used to but it felt right to have someone she's loved for such a long time as her boyfriend. D'Angelo could say the same, since this was also something he's wanted for a long time as well.
Now here they were, as boyfriend and girlfriend, but of course still best friends.
