"You were out with him, again?!" Ryleigh's boyfriend of nearly two years yelled at her.
Ryleigh couldn't help but roll her eyes at the way he was reacting towards this. It's not as if she was cheating on Damian, she loved him way too much to do that. When she told him that she was out with Tyus, she meant that she was helping him pack to move back to his hometown after getting drafted.
"Damian, I was just helping him pack!" She defended, trying to keep her voice down. She was not one to yell, even when Damian started yelling at her.
"Just helping him pack. My ass, Ry. I bet you that you were swapping spit with him." He accused her, and that set Ryleigh off. He had the nerve to accuse her of cheating when she's been nothing but loyal to him for the past 2 years.
"Why the fuck would I cheat on you, Damian?! You know what? I'm absolutely sick of how insecure you are when it comes to me and Tyus! He and I are nothing but friends. I actually prefer to be around Tyus right now, instead of having to hear you-" Ryleigh began to yell, having enough of him until she was cut off by a hand connecting with the side of her face.
He hit her. He actually hit her, even after he promised he would never do such a thing to his girlfriend.
She put her hand over where Damian had just slapped her, "You're an asshole!" She yelled, grabbing her keys and running out of the apartment. Once she was in her car, she couldn't help but cry. She never thought that someone she cared so much about would put their hands on her in a violent way.
Right now, she had no idea where to go until she saw her best friend's name and contact picture pop up on her phone screen.
"Ty?" She answered, her voice shaky and full of fear.
"Ry... what happened?" Tyus said, instantly becoming worried. He knew Ry like the palm on his hand. Now whenever she was upset, he knew it had to deal with Damian. He never really told Ry about it but he absolutely could not stand Damian. He believed Damian was nothing but a jerk, and that Ryleigh deserved better. He also believed that he was better for Ryleigh instead of Damian. He had the biggest crush on her, even way before the two became apart of Duke University.
"He hit me." was all she said, and she could hear frustration in Tyus' voice when he began to use every curse word in his vocabulary to speak about Damian.
"Where are you right now, Ry?" He asked, clearly annoyed with the current situation.
"I'm in my car outside of the apartment, why?" She answered.
"Come over to my place, you can stay with me and finally leave that jackass." Tyus said, before he hung up.
Ry did as he said, and a few minutes later she saw Tyus' car park right next to her. She got out of her car, Tyus doing the same. Instead of saying anything to her, Tyus went straight towards the apartment Ryleigh and Damian once shared. Finally reaching the correct apartment number, he banged on the door.
Damian opened the door, giving him a confused look, "What the fuck do you want, Jones?" He said, before receiving a punch to the face from Tyus.
"First of all, that was for hitting my best friend." Tyus spoke before punching him once more, " And that one, is for being such a prick to someone who's been nothing but loyal and loving to you but your ass was to blind to see!" He said, before storming out of the place.
Ryleigh had followed him, without Tyus noticing and she saw everything. She couldn't believe her eyes. Her best friend had just hit her boyfriend, well now, ex boyfriend.
"Why'd you do that, Ty?" She asked as he walked out.
"Because Ryleigh, he deserved it. He should've never even hit you in the first place. Look, I know that you probably don't even wanna hear this right now but part of the reason I did that was because of hate towards him. I hate Damian, I also even envied him. I was jealous of him because he had you when I wanted nothing more than to tell you about my feelings for you." He explained, leaving Ryleigh speechless, "You always say that everyone deserves a chance with someone special to them so.... why not me?"
Instead of speaking, Ryleigh just hugged him and pulled him in for a kiss, leaving the two happy and it was the start of a beautiful relationship.
